Okay – I’m almost finished working on different ornaments – I think! I keep thinking of new ideas, and they’re such fun to make. Today I’m sharing 3 more ornament styles that I hope you’ll love. The first 2 are the 2.5″ round that I shared in THIS POST and THIS POST, but these each have different images on them.
CARDINAL CHRISTMAS
Here on the west coast we don’t see cardinals, but they’re still a favourite of mine! The cardinal bird is associated with love, devotion, and in some tribes, good fortune. And of course, their glorious red colour is perfect for the holiday season!
This first ornament, on the left, has the image of a cardinal, with the simple word ‘Believe’. I take that as meaning ‘believe in the spirit of Christmas’, but it’s open to interpretation.
The ornament is 2.5″ round, made with gold glittered resin around the edges, and white in the middle. The decal is applied after the resin has cured, and then a clear coat of resin is added on top, to protect the image. Finally, a red ribbon bow is attached to the ornament, and a gold cord hanger added.
The second ornament is created in the same way, but the decal images is of the cardinal, with the saying ‘Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas’ – which of course is the title to the well-know Christmas song.
HIGHLAND COWS
Where’s my Scotland fans?! If you’re from Scotland (or know someone who is), you may know these gorgeous animals as ‘Heilan’ Coos’ – thanks to Scottish dialects 🙂 Famous for their amazing hair and long horns; their unique double layer of hair gives them protection from the cold, wind and rain common in the Highlands.
One of my cousins, who lives in Scotland, is a big fan of these cows, so as soon as I saw the mold for the Christmas Coo, I had to get it!
Variation in the colour of their hair is common, so I took advantage of that, and had some fun while I was painting them!
For these ornaments, I first painted each part of the ornament mold with acrylic paint. Then, clear resin was poured on top. Once that was cured, a final coat of white tinted resin was added, which became the back side of the ornament.
LOTS OF ORNAMENTS TO CHOOSE FROM!
As promised, I will have all of the ornaments I’ve been sharing this week to my online Shop. I should have them all listed by tomorrow, November 11th. There are the 2 different Cardinal ornaments, the Highland Cow, the Red, White & Gold, the Silver, and the 2 types of Grinch Face ornaments. I think you’ll find at least 1 style (or more) that will look great on your tree – or a friend’s! Ornaments make great stocking stuffers & gifts (hint, hint).
Thanks for being patient, and have fun choosing your ornaments!
The Believe ones are beautiful, but I do love those Highland Cows!
