A Few of My Favourite Colours

Happy Monday! I had some fun this weekend, practicing some painting. I also did an abstract 8″ x 10″ piece, in a few of my favourite colours. Creating abstracts with alcohol inks is fun; you go with the flow of the inks, and guide them a bit, where you can.

ABSTRACT IN ALCOHOL INK

A while ago, I created these coasters, below. I just love the colour combinations of Ranger Citrus, Cloudy Blue, and Cobalt inks, and Foundry Alloy.

A Few of My Favourite Colours

The photo above shows them after they’ve been given a resin coating – that’s why you can see the shine on them. You can read about them in THIS POST (it will open in a new tab). I like the colour combination so much, I thought I’d try a piece of wall art, in the same colours.

What do you think? The panel is 8″ x 10″, and above I’ve place a mat over it which measures 11″ x 14″.  This way, you get a better idea of how it would look framed.

ART DETAILS

The base for this art piece is 8″ x 10″ Yupo. Yupo is a great substrate for alcohol inks, as it’s non-porous and allows the ink the move smoothly. Foundry is the name of the Alloy ink I included with the other inks. It’s a gorgeous silver that reminds me of Mercury. Alloys are different from Mixatives, in that they ‘float’ more on top of the inks, where Mixatives will actually mix with the ink colour, when Blending Solution is introduced. The Foundry Alloy is what gives this piece that fabulous shimmer!

FAVOURITE COLOURS

What are a few of your favourite colours? Do you tend towards neutrals, or do you like bright colours? Most people tend to decorate their home in warms or neutrals, and add brighter colours as accents in their décor pieces. Such as in wall art, lamps, table accent pieces, etc. Having a ‘feature wall’ that incorporates a colour or texture is also a good way to add excitement to your décor.

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a card, painting or other project - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you create with me! :)

    1. Thanks, Buffy! I think it’s because they’re ‘nature’ colours, they’re calming but inspiring (to me, anyway). So glad that you like this abstract 🙂
