Welcome to this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge! I hope that you’re having a great week, and a great start to this new year. Now is always the time of year when I need to start stocking up on birthday cards. We have 2 family birthdays in January, one in February, and then they just keep coming after that! So today’s card is perfect for a birthday, made with the A La Mode Cheers! set from My Favorite Things. But before we get to my card, let me show you the sketch, first.
PCC366 SKETCH CHALLENGE
With this sketch, remember that you can change the focal shape, and orientation of the card.
Of course, you also get to choose which stamps, colours and embellishments to use as well. Have fun with it!
A LA MODE CHEERS
This stamp set has sentiments for birthdays, and others that can be used for any celebration. I had used the image stamp in my card for a recent blog hop – you can see it HERE, if you missed it.
Isn’t this cute? You can see that I flipped the orientation to portrait from landscape. I also used an oval for my focal shape, and added the die cut image on top of it.
CARD DETAILS
Create your background panel first, so it has time to dry while you work on the focal image. On a slick surface, like a piece of acetate or a watercolour mat, place some dark pink ink or scribble with an alcohol marker. Pick up the ink with a water brush, and create the wash for the background. Set it aside to dry.
On a separate piece of white cardstock, stamp the image in Nocturne ink. Cover it with clear embossing powder, and heat set. Now you can colour with your alcohol markers. I chose Spectrum Noir Tri-Blend in Bright Pink for the dress and shoes. For the hair, blend Spectrum Noir Illustrator Cream and Sand. To colour the champagne in the glass, use the Nuvo Aqua Shimmer Pen in Midas Touch. Add some gold sparkle to the dress by adding spots of gold ink from the Midas Touch pen. Now use the matching A La Mode Cheers die to die cut the image, and then again die cut it from fun foam
Stamp the sentiment, also from the A La Mode Cheers! set, in Versamark ink onto a strip of white cardstock. Cover with gold embossing powder, and heat set. Round off the corner for a smooth look. Now, use an oval die and some Gina K. Metallic Gold paper to die cut the oval background.
LAYER IT TOGETHER
Glue the watercolour wash panel onto a dark pink card base. Next, attach the gold oval with fun foam, or foam tape to the middle of the panel. Glue the die cut image to the die cut fun foam image, and attach it to the middle of the gold oval. Finish it off by attaching the sentiment to the bottom left of the oval, and add some gold metallic dots on the card front.
With the angle that the above photo is taken, the champagne now looks silver, instead of gold! It’s all in the angle & lighting; you can see that the gold dots on the dress just look like watermarks.

I need a wine glass that big. Then I could say I am only having one! 🤣. Cute card!
Ha ha! That’s a good idea, Susan 🙂 Of course, now you can buy a ‘glass’ that fits into the top of the wine bottle like a stopper – so you can keep drinking that ‘one’ glass! I’m glad you like this card 🙂
