Alcohol Ink Art - Fall Maple Leaf

Hell there, my friend! Well, I’ve finally finished my alcohol ink art project.  If you missed the post where it was still a work in progress, you can see that  HERE.  Just to recap, I’ve been working on an online class with Sheryl Williams Art, called Fall Maple Leaf.  The last picture I shared showed that the background was done. I was waiting for it to dry, before removing the masking fluid from the leaf image.

Here is the reference picture I have been working from.

Alcohol Ink Work In Progress

And here, finally, is my interpretation! I’m very nervous about sharing this – but I figured hey, we all start from somewhere, right? So here we go!

Alcohol Ink Art - Fall Maple Leaf

There is a bit of glare on this sides from the lights, otherwise the colours are pretty true to the actual art piece. For the leaves, the ink colours are Valencia, Sunshine Yellow, and Red Pepper. Leaf veins are done in Bottle ink. The background is done in Pinata Mantilla Black, Meadow, Citrus and Bottle greens.

PRODUCTS USED

All of the inks used are alcohol inks, and the piece is done on Yupo. Other products used were a pencil & graphite paper for tracing, alcohol blending solution, paintbrushes and an old toothbrush (for flicking ink). I’ve included product links below, if you’d like to order some for yourself. Beware – once you start playing with alcohol inks, you’ll be hooked! Like anything new, there’s a bit of a learning curve, but you’ll enjoy it!

I’d love to hear what you think about my alcohol ink art Fall Maple Leaf. It’s the second big piece I’ve done, and I am definitely still learning!  Thanks for taking the time to  have a look – I hope you have a creative day!

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a card, painting or other project - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you create with me! :)
