Alcohol Ink Holiday Workshop Poinsettia

I’ve been having some fun, making time to practice from the tutorials from the Alcohol Ink Holiday Workshop. You may remember my posts about it; it took place earlier this month.  It was a huge success, and I really enjoyed all of the tutorials from the amazing artist presenters. This painting I’m sharing today is of a poinsettia, and the tutorial was presented by Korinne Carpino.  Korinne is a wonderfully talented artist – and she’s also participating in the Virtual Holiday Show & Sale, that I’m in as well!

ALCOHOL INK POINSETTIA

Here’s one flower that will last well beyond Christmas! Actually, I suppose all poinsettias should last year-round, but they usually don’t, in my house.  I may be able to paint my thumb green, but that doesn’t help keep plants alive! Korinne helpfully provided a sketch for us to work from, and gave suggestions for ink colours. I had to improvise a bit, but here it is.

I loved the inclusion of the blue in the background, and of course all of the variations of greens and textures. My poinsettia is nowhere near perfect, but it was good practice.   Here is Korinne Carpino’s finished alcohol ink poinsettia – so you can see what I was aiming for!

Doesn’t Korinne’s poinsettia look wonderful?! Of course everyone’s is different, and that’s perfectly okay. I try not to beat myself up too much when my work isn’t as good as the original artists’; besides, it would be boring if everyone’s art looked the same, right?

ANOTHER LOOK

Here’s another look at my version of the poinsettia, from a different angle.

I will try this painting again, after I’ve tried out more of the tutorials. There are a total of 9 presentation tutorials, so I  have lots of fun ahead!

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a card, painting or other project - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you create with me! :)

I love to read what you have to say! Thanks for commenting ;)
