Have you ever looked at a perfectly pleasant project you’ve created, and found it lacking? Thinking – yeah, it looks good, but it needs some ‘oomph’? Well, you can amp up your game with mixed media! Add layers, dimension, textures and effects to bring your project to the next level.

If you’ve been a crafter for even a minute, you’ve heard of Tim Holtz! His creative work with Ranger Ink, in coming up with amazing products for makers is legend. And he’s done it again, with a new release for Hallowe’en! Of course, you can use these products all year long, but the colours & textures are perfect for the spooky season!

With names like Crypt, Harvest Moon, and Wicked Elixir, you get the idea! You can watch this video by Tim, below, for loads of ways to use his latest products.

Right now, you can find his new products at the links below.  Some of them may still be in transit at this writing, so be sure to check back!

Another way to add shine, sparkle and dimension to your project is with Picket Fence Studios gorgeous Paper Glitz, or one of the many WOW Embossing Powders.

Amp Up Your Game with Mixed Media

Just look at some of the colours in the Paper Glitz line! You can use this just like any texture paste; give it a stir (to mix up the sparkle), then apply to your project with a palette knife. It can be used direct to paper, or through a stencil.  Similar to this is the Gina K. Designs Glitz Glitter Gel, again with a beautiful array of colours.

If you’ve never used WOW Embossing Powders, you’re in for a treat! They come in SO MANY colours, textures and depths, you’ll be amazed. You can get regular, extra fine (for those skinny little details), and extra high (when you want more dimension). Want glitter? Done! Metallic? You got it! Fluorescent? You betcha! The important thing to remember about mixed media is to HAVE FUN! Get messy, tear the paper, spread the goodness, and you’ll be surprised how easy it is to amp up your creating game.

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a card, painting or other project - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you create with me! :)

I love to read what you have to say! Thanks for commenting ;)
