Good Monday morning, stamping friend! If you’re in the U.S., I hope that you’re enjoying your Memorial Day long weekend. Here in Canada, we had our Victoria Day long weekend last weekend! So, we all get our turn. Today I want to share with you another rainbow card, created with strips of cardstock. Last week I shared this one with the Blah Bunny; if you missed it, be sure to take a look – and have a giggle!
RAINBOW BIRTHDAY
Today’s card is for a birthday; with all the bright colours, would wouldn’t like to receive this card?
CARD DETAILS
I had strips of cardstock left over from last week’s card which I used. Apply the strips in rainbow order (ROYGBIV) with liquid glue onto a base of 4″ x 5 1/4″; cut off any excess. Stamp the 2 balloons in Versamark ink, cover with white embossing powder, and heat set. Add the balloon strings in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
Die cut the word celebrate from black cardstock 4 times (yes, 4!). Stack each die cut on top of the other, attaching them together with liquid glue. I used a ‘Quickie Glue Pen’ for a neat application. Now attach the stacked die cuts across the middle of the front panel on an angle, again using the liquid glue.
This picture above shows the nice extra ‘oomph’ you get when stacking the die cuts.
Finish it off by adding the bottom part of the sentiment in Versamark ink, and again emboss it in white embossing powder. Now attach your card front to a panel of bright green cardstock, and then onto a black card base. Using the black for the card base helps tie all of the colours together, and lets the colours ‘pop’ even more. Of course, you’ll want to add a panel of white cardstock to the inside, for writing your message!
SUPPLIES AVAILABLE TO ORDER
The stamp sets & die I used are from my stash of retired Stampin’ Up! products, so I can’t give you shopping links to those – sorry! I have provided affiliate links below to the other, basic supplies that I used. Be sure to have a browse around – there’s great sales going on, with today (Monday May 27th) being the last day!
Compensated affiliate links are provided where available, at no cost to you. Your purchase through these links provides me with a small percentage, which helps keep my blog going, and purchasing new supplies, to share with you! Thank you in advance!
Oh, I love the stacked die-cuts! And the black card base really does make the other colors pop. Great card!
I’m glad you liked this birthday rainbow card, Buffy! Amazing how a basic colour like black makes everything else so vibrant. Maybe that’s why every woman likes having a ‘little black dress’?
