Are They Circles or Bubbles?

Are they circles, or bubbles? I guess it depends on your perspective – or how you’re using them! Hello there, my friend! I’m posting this Sunday for the Scrap ‘N Stamp Blog.  If you don’t already subscribe to it, you should! Each of us members of  the Design Team take turns during the month, sharing new projects. You can find the Blog HERE. However, since  you’re here now – read on!

CIRCLES OR BUBBLES

Well, today’s daily challenge prompt is ‘circles’.  And yes, I chose that word especially so that I could play with my new Sizzix/Tim Holtz Bubbling Die! Not only does it create a fabulous, fun cover die for your card, but you get tons of circles to play with for other projects!  I decided to combine the Bubbling Die with an alcohol ink background, and the Picket Fence Studios A Dose of Vitamin Sea stamp set. Here’s my finished card, below.

Are They Circles or Bubbles?

How fun is this?! You should see the shine & sparkle in real life – you almost need sunglasses 🙂

DETAILS

First, I started off with an alcohol ink background panel that I had created a while ago.  It was made on Yupo by adding alcohol inks, plus gold mixative and moving it around on the Yupo. Here’s what it looks like, before trimming to size & layering it with the die cut.

Initially, I was going to die cut this piece, above, with the Bubbling Die. But then I realized that most of the gorgeous colours would be cut out. So, I decided to die cut a piece of Tonic Glimmer Paper in Cobalt Blue, and layer it on top of the alcohol ink panel.

The rest of the card is super simple! Stamp the whale image from the PFS A Dose of Vitamin Sea set in Nocturne ink onto white cardstock. Cover it with clear embossing powder, and heat set. Next, use Copic markers in Gray to colour the whale. Now, use the coordinating dies with your Big Shot to die cut the image. For the sentiment, stamp it in Versamark ink onto a piece of Vellum. Cover it with white embossing powder, and  heat set.  Attach the whale to the card front with foam squares or foam tape. To attach the sentiment, simply put dots of liquid glue in the corners; it will dry clear.  Now add a couple of those many circles from the die cutting to the sentiment.  Finally, attach the card front to a dark blue card base.

All of those circles – or are they bubbles -along with the smiling whale, make me smile, too!

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a card, painting or other project - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you create with me! :)

I love to read what you have to say! Thanks for commenting ;)
