autumn leaves

Welcome to the final week of October! We’ve officially said good bye to summer and hello to autumn, with a drastic weather change. Last week our temps were in the mid-20’s Celsius; today we’re mid-teens, with wind and rain – and a power outage!  This post was supposed to be written and sent this morning, but without power – it just wasn’t going to happen. But here I am now, and I’m really excited to share with you my latest, completed project.

AUTUMN LEAVES

Last week I shared a ‘work in progress’ photo of another 3D resin wall art piece. If you missed it, you can catch up in THIS POST. (I’ll wait – it’ll open in a new tab for you).  This is a large piece, measuring 10″ x 20″ and 1/2″ thick (the inner part of the frame is 8.5″ x 18.5″). The background is created by pouring and mixing different colour-tinted resin, and then adding the 3D printed leaves & branches on top. Finally, the colour of the leaves was created by gently adding and blending more tinted resin.  I kept the colours all rich, and warm, like fall leaves in real life!

Don’t you just love the colours?! As nice as the photo looks, it looks even better in real life! The copper colour of the branches & leaves is so warm, and then adding the glow of the mica powders in the resin in rich reds, orange and gold, really make the whole piece seem to glow with warmth.

The photo above is a close up of a few of the leaves – there’s a bit of glare on the resin background because of the lights. You just can’t stop resin from being reflective!

ONE MORE LOOK

Here’s another look, just because I think it’s so pretty! I’ll be adding this piece to my online Shop this week. If you’d like to grab it before it’s listed, drop me an email at thistledesigns@shaw.ca !

The above photo is at a bit of an angle, however all of the pieces – leaves, branches – are laying flat against the hard canvas, except for where the 1 small branch that goes underneath the main branch. I’m toying with an idea on how to create this piece again, and make it a truly 3D piece!

Thanks for looking –  please let me know how you like my Autumn Leaves art piece. I always appreciate your feedback, and input.

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a card, painting or other project - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you create with me! :)

  1. This piece is so beautiful! The picture doesn’t do it justice. So glad I was able to see it in person. Loved it!
