Beautiful Brusho Blooms

Happy Monday, my stamping friend! You know, it’s been a while since I’ve used my Brusho Crystal Colours – and now I’m asking myself ‘why??’ I created this card on the weekend, and I’m just in love with how it turned out. These truly are beautiful Brusho blooms! Take a look, and see what you think.

BEAUTIFUL BRUSHO BLOOMS

Brusho Crystal Colours are highly pigmented crystals, that literally explode with colour when in contact with water. These flowers are created with Ultramarine and Purple Brusho.

You can see in the photo above, that each of the Brusho containers has a pin stuck in the lid. That’s because a little truly goes a long way! You only need to sprinkle the Brusho colours onto your watercolour paper, and when water is added, they will explode and move. By varying the amount of water and crystals you add, you control the intensity of the colour.

FLOWER & LEAF DETAILS

Start by stamping the outline flower image from Altenew’s Beautiful Day stamp set in Versamark ink. Stamp onto watercolour paper, and then cover the images with white embossing powder. Stamp 2 of the flowers, and 3 of the leaf groupings.  So as to not cross-contaminate the colours, I stamped the flowers on one piece of paper, and the leaves on a second piece.

With a small sprayer, lightly spray the watercolour paper with water. Next, sprinkle on the colour crystals, one colour at a time, so you can see them mixing. This also allows you to add more colour in one area than another, if that’s what you want. Continue to add water and colour crystals until you’re happy with the result. Set aside the 2 panels to let them dry.  In this photo below, you can see the intensity of the colour. You can also still see some of the colour granulation, which I think is pretty cool.

BACKGROUND PANEL DETAILS

Cut a panel of smooth white cardstock. With a blending brush, apply some Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide mainly in the middle of the panel. Next, on a non-porous surface (like a craft mat or piece of acetate) spray 2 little puddles of water, and add some Ultramine Brusho Crystals to one, and Purple crystals to the other. Mix them up in the water, keeping the separate, with a medium paint brush. Now, pick up one colour at a time with the brush, and flick some of the paint onto the blended panel. Repeat with the second colour.

On a strip of purple cardstock, stamp the sentiment from the Beautiful Day stamp set in Versamark ink. Cover with white embossing powder, and heat set. Cut a smaller strip of dark blue cardstock, and a dark blue card base.

PUT IT ALL TOGETHER

Attach your blended & splattered panel onto your card base, with foam tape. Next, layer the sentiment & blue strip  across the middle of the card. Now layer your flowers and leaves, attaching them with foam tape or squares.

Doesn’t that just look gorgeous?! I love how the Leaf Green crystals have some yellow mixed in (none of the colours is strictly 1 colour of crystal). It provides a lovely natural looking colour to the leaves. I will add an inside panel once I decide to send this card. It’s so pretty, I was in a rush to get it photographed!
