Beautiful Scenery

We had a wonderful weekend here, filled with sunshine! Don’t worry; I’m not getting too smug – I know that more rain is on it’s way. That’s just life here on the ‘wet’ coast! Well, we need all that rain to stay beautifully green, here. Speaking of beautiful scenery – this wonderful weather put me in the mood to create some of my own, using the Cozy Cottage stamp set.

BEAUTIFUL SCENERY

Being surrounded here by both mountains, and water, I’m torn between which I prefer. I think it has to be the water, though I do love the quiet nature of the mountains. This card creates a peaceful scene, of a little cottage nestled at the base of a mountain.

Beautiful Scenery

The Stampin’ Blends markers make it easy to colour in the beautiful scene.

DETAILS

First, stamp the cottage onto Whisper White cardstock in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. This will ensure the ink won’t bleed into the markers, which will  happen if you use our regular Classic ink. Colour the grass, trees and shrubs using the Old Olive Combo Pack. Use the Dark marker to add the shading. Use the Crumb Cake Combo Pack Blends to colour the cottage roof and sides. Again, it’s the Dark marker that adds the shading and darker trim. The brickwork and path are coloured in gray with the Smoky Slate Combo Pack; add in a bit of Light Crumb Cake for some ‘dirt’ around the rocks in the path.

For the mountain, first use the Light Smoky Slate for shading along the top, then blend in and colour the rest with the Light Crumb Cake Blends. Use the Daffodil Delights Blends to colour in the windows.

Next, stamp the sentiment onto a strip of Whisper White cardstock in Soft Suede ink. Use the Banner Triple Punch to create the tails on each end.

LAYERING

Die cut the image with the Big Shot and the Layering Ovals Framelits. Next, die cut a frame with the next biggest oval, from the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper. Attach the 2 pieces onto a panel of Soft Sky cardstock. Wind a length of Linen Thread around the left side of the panels, taping it in place with Tear & Tape in the back. Now attach the sentiment with Stampin’ Dimensionals underneath the image.

Now you’re ready to layer the front panel onto your Crumb Cake cardstock card base.

Beautiful Scenery

This card reminds me of a cross stitched image you might see in someone’s grandma’s house 🙂  I also think it would make a lovely card for someone who has had a difficult time, or perhaps a sympathy card.

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a card, painting or other project - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you create with me! :)
