Coffee. I think that my blood type is dark roast; how about yours?! Seriously though – I don’t know how I gave up coffee during my 2 pregnancies – these kids owe me, big time! That’s why I love the sentiment in this set – we drink coffee, because adulting is hard. It helps to wake us up, and keep us going.
SPLATTERS
I just had to use my new Tim Holtz stencil, called Splatters. But trust me – I am NEVER this messy with my coffee! I mean – what a waste! Coffee is precious, and must be handled with care. On the other hand, adulting is hard, as we’ve established, so splatters happen.
This stencil does create very realistic looking coffee rings & splatters! I was actually drinking a coffee that my husband brought home for me, while I was making this card. So after doing the stenciling, I pretended that I had spilled my coffee, and showed him the cardstock. He said “how on earth did you make such a mess?” – he thought it was real!
CARD DETAILS
First, start with a piece of white cardstock. Lay the Splatters stencil over top, holding it in place with some Purple Tape. Use a blending brush and Vintage Photo Distress Oxide ink to add the images. Remove the stencil, and wipe it clean.
Use the sentiment from the Echo Park But First, Coffee stamp set. Stamp it first in brown in, then again with Versamark ink on top. Cover with clear embossing powder, and heat set. To create the coffee cup, I used an old die set from Stampin’ Up! Stamp the coffee beans from the same stamp set onto the cup with dark brown ink, and then assemble the cup. Use a tag die to die cut the sentiment. Layer the die cuts on top of the stenciled panel.
Now you can layer the front panel onto a green cardstock, and then finally onto a light brown card base.
This card would be a perfect ‘just because’ card for a coffee loving friend – or tuck a coffee gift card inside as a gift!

Great card! I agree, though, about spilling coffee. Every wasted drop is a tragedy. (Ok, that may be a *little* overly dramatic, but in the morning, that’s how I feel.)
I knew you’d relate to the spilled coffee part, Buffy! 🙂
