Being Pleasant Can Be Exhausting!

BEING PLEASANT CAN BE EXHAUSTING!

Have you ever had one of those days? You know, you wake up feeling cranky and out of sorts, but not sure why? Then the day doesn’t get any better from there…I mean, first you had to get out of bed! Then, you’re forced to go where it’s ‘people-y’, which can be tough at the best of times! The adorable Blah Bunny stamp set from Honeybee Stamps was calling to me, and I just HAD to pair it up with the Laugh ‘Til You Leak sentiment set from Dina Wakely.  Because being pleasant can be exhausting!

EXHAUSTED BLAH BUNNY

This card is a great carry-over from our Scrap ‘N Stamp Blog Hop, the theme of which is ‘This Pun’s For You’! If you didn’t do the hop, you really should just do WIT! The cards are oh so punny, and the techniques are great to see. You can start at my card here. Be sure to leave comments as you hop along, as there are prizes to be won!

And now onto my card! The layout is quite simple, because a flat-out bunny can only be arranged in so many ways! (like, one!)

Being Pleasant Can Be Exhausting!

I was originally going to use this card for the current Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge (you can see that post here), but I thought it may be stretching it a *little* bit! What do you think? Could I have gotten away with it?

CARD FRONT DETAILS

I had fun with the gray and purple combination.  Starting with a panel of white cardstock, blend on some purple ink for your background. I used Seedless Preserves Distress ink with my Life Changing Blender Brushes.  Next, stamp the sentiment from the Laugh ‘Til You Leak set in Memento Tuxedo Black ink, at the top of the panel. Now set it aside, while you work on your images.

On separate white cardstock, stamp the bunny, rug, coffee mug & spill in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Because I used this ink as my base, I used my Stampin’ Blends Markers for colouring. Use the Smoky Slate combo for the bunny; add in Blushing Bride for his ears. I used the regular Melon Mambo marker for his nose and toes.

Colour in the rub with the Highland Heather Blends combo. Use the Coastal Cabana combo for the mug, and Crumb Cake for the spill. After colouring, use the matching Blah Bunny dies with your die cutting machine to cut out each piece.

LAYER IT UP!

Now comes the fun part – bringing it to life! Use foam squares or tape to attach the bunny on top of the rug. Then, attach the rug onto the blended panel, placing it in the middle underneath the sentiment. Now attach the mug & spill in front of the bunny, again with foam squares or tape.

Attach the front panel to a panel of light purple cardstock with foam tape. Finally, attach those panels to a white card base. That’s it – you’re done! Even an exhausted bunny could pull this card together (and I did!).

Being Pleasant Can Be Exhausting!

I can’t help myself – I just love this bunny! I really ‘feel’  him, you know? Having chronic insomnia probably helps with that…  But you can see how easy it is to add a bit of shading for a background to create interest, rather than leaving it plain white.

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a card, painting or other project - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you create with me! :)

  1. What a cute little bunny! I love the color behind the image; it adds a really special touch. And that sentiment! Perfect! Especially for the day after DST. UGH! Why are we still doing this?
