BIG NEWS FROM ORLANDO CONVENTION
Hello stamping friend! Right now, the Stampin’ Up! annual Convention, this year celebrating Stampin’ Up!’s 30th Anniversary, is happening in Orlando, Florida. Unfortunately I’m not able to attend this year, but I’m living vicariously through all of my demonstrator friends who are there. And, they’ve shared some big news from the Orlando Convention!
What’s the big news? Well, currently Stampin’ Up! offers stamps in 3 different formats;
- ‘Wood Mount’ are red rubber stamps that come with coordinating size wood blocks. You remove the backing from the red rubber, and permanently mount the stamp onto the wood block.
- ‘Clear Mount’ are red rubber stamps that you use with our Clear Blocks. They come with a sticker sheet; one sticker per stamp, that is mounted to the back side of each stamp, with a picture of the image or sentiment for the stamp. The stamp sets are sold separately from the Clear Blocks, but as the stamps are only temporarily attached to the blocks for stamping, and then removed, the Clear Blocks can be used over and over again, for any Clear Mount stamp set.
- ‘Photopolymer Stamps’ are just that – made from clear photopolymer material. This material is super sticky when it comes to temporarily mounting the stamps onto our Clear Blocks – again, sold separately. Because the photopolymer is clear, you can see the image/sentiment, so no backing sticker is needed.
WHAT’S COMING? NEW ‘CLING’ STAMPS!
The ‘Clear Mount’ stamps will be phased out, and replaced with new Cling Stamps! These new Cling stamps will still be made from our high quality red rubber, but will now come with a super-clingy labels. Think – toddler who hasn’t had a nap, has refused to eat, and now has asked for something totally unreasonable (like a pony, while at the supermarket) – clingy!
Over the years, the one complaint we’ve heard about the ‘Clear Mount’ stamps is that when the image sticker is added to the back, they don’t ‘stick’ well to the Clear Blocks; sometimes in fact falling off when you’re inking up the stamp, or cleaning it off. We’ve all tried all kinds of tricks – like wiping off the block on your jeans or shirt; cleaning off the back of the stamp with Stampin’ Mist, ‘huffing’ on the block – with limited success. Some people have even resorted to putting liquid glue on their blocks, to get the stamps to stick! Well – enough is enough! No more of that – you’re going to LOVE the new Cling stamps!
WILL ALL STAMPS CHANGE TO CLING?
The transition will take until about the start of the new Annual catalogue to complete, so early June 2019, at least for the North American market. The plan for now is that the Wood Mount will be discontinued, and all ‘Clear Mount’ will transition to Cling.
The only Wood Mount that will be carried over for now is the large Background stamps. If sales of these Wood Mount remain high, then they may continue.
Photopolymer stamps will continue to be produced and sold, as usual.
RECAP OF CHANGES
So, in the new Occasions catalogue and possibly the Sale-A-Bration catalogues, both coming in January, you’ll start to see the changes. You’ll see 2 types of stamps offered; the new Cling mount, and the Photopolymer stamps. If you do see Wood Mount, they’ll be large Background stamps.
Of course – this is all information being disseminated from the Orlando convention – so I reserve the right to be corrected! LOL
WHAT TO DO IF YOU LOVE WOOD MOUNT
Well, my friend, if there is any stamp sets in the current catalogues that you absolutely love, and have to have in wood mount – buy it now! I’m saying this because at this point, I don’t know what the supply of the wood bases is, so although the stamps may still be produced, one the wood blocks are gone, I’m assuming that will be it for supply.
