Brusho Crystal Colour Background

BRUSHO CRYSTAL COLOUR BACKGROUND

It’s been  a while since I got inky, so I decided to create a Brusho Crystal Colour background! I love using the Brusho; you never know exactly how your piece may turn out when you sprinkle on the crystals, then add water. Of course, you could use the Brusho Crystal Colours in a palette, and add water first; that gives you more control. Using them like that is just like regular watercolouring. I wanted to have more fun, so I wet a piece of watercolour paper, sprinkled on the crystals, and then added more water.

FUN BACKGROUNDS

I used Prussian Blue, Gamboge and Yellow. This is how the piece looked, after I had sprinkled, then spritzed.

I did actually tidy up my workspace a bit to take this picture! I didn’t think to take one, until after I had finished spritzing the water. I always say, the most difficult part of using Brusho is waiting for them to dry! You can see that I had already cut my card base of Pacific Point cardstock, and a partial die cut ‘window’ overlay.

A LITTLE NOTE

This is the finished card! After the background had dried, I added the (non SU!) window die cut overlay in Basic Black on top, with the Foam Adhesive Strips. I also stamped the (non SU!) sentiment onto a strip of Basic Black cardstock in Versamark ink, and embossed with White Embossing Powder.

I decided that I wanted the ‘window frame’ to be glossy, so I stamped over the cardstock with Versamark ink, and covered it all with Clear Embossing Powder, then set it with the Heat Tool. I think I missed a couple of little spots – and you can see on the sentiment that I wasn’t able to find my Embossing Buddy!  It’s really not that obvious in person – close up pictures show all the blemishes! LOL

For the panel underneath, stamp the image from the Dandelion Wishes stamp set in Versamark ink, and just let it dry. This gives a nice tone-on-tone appearance. I wanted the Brusho colours to stand out, and not compete with other colours.  The front still felt a bit plain to me (clean & simple not really being my ‘thing’) so I added some vellum die cuts from a retired SU! kit  – I think it was from last year.

INSIDE STAMPING

For the inside, I added a panel of Whisper White cardstock. The sentiment from the Dandelion Wishes set is stamped in Pacific Point ink, and the dandelion image is stamped in Crumb Cake ink.
