SU! Canada Fall Conference

Hello Stamping Friends!  I had a great time this Friday & Saturday at the Stampin’ Up! Canada Fall Conference!  This is one of the perks of being a Demonstrator – we get to attend these terrific events that are allow us to try out new & existing products, plus have a business building session as well.

This is the 1st year that these cross-Canada events have been held, and I’d like to give a shout-out to Dale Hampshire and Carri McMullen of the Calgary office who not only scheduled and prepped for these events, but also facilitate each & every one of them!  Thanks very much, Dale & Carri, for all your hard work!   I was thrilled to  be one of the 250 demonstrator volunteers across Canada; helping out at my local event – this one in Abbotsford, B.C.

Here’s a picture of Carri (standing) & the volunteers at the Registration table – the calm before the doors opened! 🙂

Notice something ‘funny’ about Dale??  No, those are not his own teeth! LOL  As Friday was Hallowe’en, he was having fun with some fake funny teeth!

Here are some of the projects shared that were from the SU! page on the Scrapbooks & Cards Today blog, and other conferences:

These are the Make & Take projects that were made on Friday night:

Friday M&T
Friday M&T

Are these gorgeous or what?!  There’s a medium box made using the Under the Tree Specialty DSP and the Gift Box Punch Board, tied with Burlap Ribbon; Two 3″x3″ cards, again made with the Under the Tree Specialty DSP , a quick & fun Gift tag, and the fabulous Vellum Paper embossed Ornamental Pine card.    Not only did everyone get to make these projects – we also all got the Ornamental Pine stamp set for FREE to take home!!

This is a close-up of the card; you can see that the heat embossing with White embossing powder was done on the Vellum Paper, which was then layed on top of the Pine stamped image.

The 2nd set of Make & Take projects are just as gorgeous, and just as fun to make!

The large box was again made with the Under the Tree Specialty DSP; this is great DSP for making boxes, as it’s heavier than regular DSP, and you can really put a gift of some weight into the boxes!  The gift card holder (front) was made using the new Gift Card Envelope & Trims Thinlits Die – this made it super-quick to put this together!  What about that shaker card?!    The Christmas Bauble single stamp from the Holiday Catalogue was used, coloured with Blendabilities and filled with stars made with just 2 quick punches of the Confetti Stars Punch.

Here’s a close-up of the shaker card:

Plus it was okay for us to fall in love with this card because – guess what stamp we got to take home for FREE?  You got it – the Christmas Bauble!!

Everyone loved the Make & Takes, and of course enjoyed making new friends and meeting other demonstrators!   Other perks to attending were of course the Business Session, the dozens of prizes that were given out, and of course the FUN! we all had! 🙂

Here’s Carri & a demo getting their groove on to some music while the Make & Takes were happening:

These next pictures may be an instance of the “you had to be there” to find them funny, but here’s the scenario:  it was getting close to the end of the 2nd to last session on Saturday, so we were all getting a little tired, which equals getting a little silly!  Dale had a bowl full of Hallowe’en candy that we were sharing, and we were commenting on how the ‘Popeye Candy Sticks’ used to be called ‘Popeye Cigarettes’ years ago, and how as kids, everyone used to pretend to be smoking, with these candies.  This lead to everyone talking about the days when a lot of people used to smoke, then we were laughing about imagining a stamping class where people were smoking – eyes squinting in the smoke; blowing ash off your projects – so we all got really silly, and started to act it out!!

Here is one of the resulting photos!

Trust me – no real cigarettes were present or smoked, and it was all  in good fun!

I hope you enjoyed seeing what I was up to this weekend!  We are hoping that more of these Canadian Conferences will be happening yearly, if not more often.  If you’re interested in attending with me as my guest to one of the Product Playground (make & take) Sessions, please let me know!  It’s a great way to see a bit of the demonstrator life, and the wonderful community we have!

Until  next time – Happy Stamping!

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a card, painting or other project - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you create with me! :)
