Candle Light For Christmas

Happy Monday, my friend! I hope that your weekend was fun and that you had some time for crafting. Today’s card is sharing some candle light for Christmas; there’s something special about candles for a warm feeling. It’s funny, because we usually don’t have room on the Christmas dining table for candles – there’s too much food! Do you have candles on your table?

This is another of the image stamps from the Tim Holtz Holiday Greetings stamp set. This makes 3 of the 4 that I’ve shared so far!

Candle Light For Christmas

I can’t seem to decide between frosty blue or warm red – so I combined them!

Start with a panel of white cardstock. If you want to use more than one colour for stamping, I recommend using your MISTI, or other stamp platform. This allows you to use markers or small ink pads to add various colours. For the candles and sentiment, I used a red marker. I probably would have gotten a more solid image with a red stamp pad, but I decided that this was okay; it gave it more of a ‘hand made’ look. The candle glow was done with a yellow marker. To create the candle flames, first colour with a yellow marker and stamp. Next, colour in just the lower part of the flame with an orange marker, and then stamp again over top.

After stamping, die cut the panel with the MFT Wonky Rectangle Stitched die. Next, use a blending tool to add Broken China Distress Oxide ink around the edges.  Alternate layering panels of red and light blue cardstock with foam tape, ending with your image panel on top. Finish it off by adding a die cut Hero Arts Snowflake Cluster in silver foil.

To make this a more ‘mail friendly’ card, you could skip the extra layers of cardstock.

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a card, painting or other project - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you create with me! :)

  1. Beautiful card! I love the snowflake swirl, and the stitching on the rectangles could have been done by me! I love the image and greeting all in one stamp. And candles? They would probably get knocked over when the food gets passed, because, like you, we have way too much food to add candles! Thanks for the inspiration!

    1. I’m glad that you like my candlelit Christmas card, Buffy! I agree – if we had candles on the table, they’d probably get knocked over, and we’d end up with the fire department for dinner! 😉

I love to read what you have to say! Thanks for commenting ;)
