Card Swap with Friends - Lynn's Dragonfly Dreams

Card Swap with Friends

Here it is – my final post in this series to share the cards from my card swap with friends.  This all started a couple of weekends ago when Margaret, one of my team members, held a card swap.  It’s a great idea to create and swap cards with friends, because you come away with not just  lots of awesome cards, but great ideas & tips for stamping!

If you missed the previous posts, you can see all of the cards HERE, HERE, HERE and HERE.  Six of us took part in the swap, and we each made 2 cards .  That’s a lot of cards to share 🙂

Vintage Watches

This first card is Margaret’s; I just the vintage look!  I believe the stamp set she used is a retired Stampin’ Up! set, but I’m not positive.  I sure do like it, though!  Margaret did use the Stampin’ Up! Hexagon Dynamic Embossing Folder on the background cardstock, and the retired World Map stamp.  The whole card reminds me of the sepia toned old photographs, and the small clock embellishment is terrific.

Vintage Car

As you can see, Margaret does very well with the vintage look!  I’m kinda jealous, as I find this look isn’t easy to achieve for me; I really have to work at it.  The vintage card is another retired Stampin’ Up! set.  I love all of the layers and sponging on this card.

Copper Foil

One of Margaret’s friends knows that she loves copper – so she used a LOT of it on this card 🙂  From the dry embossed background to the heat embossed butterfly, this card was certainly a work of art, and heart!

Silver Foil

Do you remember when Stampin’ Up! carried the Co’oredinations cardstock?  It’s the kind with the white core, and the sand-able top.  You use a very fine grit sandpaper to sand the top layer, and reveal the inner core colour.  That’s how this look was achieved on the bottom part of this card.  There’s also some really cool ‘non stamping’ products used on this card; the very thin silver strips above & below the sentiment are actually a foil tape, as are the gold stripes & squares!  How cool is that?  And it was found at the Lee Valley Tools store!  We were all having a good laugh, saying that the store was going to be wondering why all of these ‘craft ladies’ were storming the store, just for their metal tape! 🙂

Dragonfly Dreams

This Dragonfly Dreams card was made by Lynn, another of my talented team members.  I can’t wait to try out the technique she used to create the quilted background look!  The combination of the Melon Mambo, Silver Foil and Silver Glimmer Paper is just gorgeous.  And to add to the shine, Lynn studded the quilt look with the tiny Rhinestone Embellishments.

Vertical Greetings

Last but certainly not least, is Lynn’s card using the Vertical Greetings stamp set.  Don’t you just love how the Petal Burst Embossing Folder mimics the leaves in the topiary?  I really like how Lynn kept to the 2 main colours (I think Dapper Denim and Pear Pizzazz), then added the pop of Real Red with the bird.

That’s It!

Well, that’s it!  Now you’ve seen all of the cards from our  card swap with friends.  Hopefully  you’ve enjoyed seeing them as much as we did creating and swapping them.  We had so much fun that we’ve already booked our next card swap!

Now is a great time to grab those stamp sets that have been on your ‘wish list’, before Sale-A-Bration ends on March 31st!  Remember that for every $60 spent, you get to choose 1 FREE item from the SAB brochure.

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a card, painting or other project - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you create with me! :)

    1. I’m glad to read that you’ve enjoyed seeing all the card swaps, Susan 🙂 I agree – these are some very talented ladies!

  1. Every card is terrific! Margaret’s first card uses a set I have from 2006, SU’s Thinking of Father. It is one of my favs! Love Lynn’s color combo, too. So clean and crisp! ALL of the cards are very lovely!

    1. Oh, thanks for sharing the name of the clock stamp, Laura! I’d like to find it one day for myself; my husband collects pocket watches. 🙂 I’m glad that you’ve enjoyed seeing the card swaps!
