CARD SWAP WITH FRIENDS
One of my team members, Margaret, hosted a Card Swap with friends on Friday evening. There were 6 of us in total, and we each created 12 cards; 6 each of 2 designs. I had such a fun time, I just have to share 🙂
Of course I know Margaret, and another of my other team members , Lynn was there too. It’s always nice to make new friends! It’s even more fun when they have the same interest as you do – in this case, stamping!
I loved seeing how everyone has their own ‘style’. It’s interesting how we can use the same tools, but each create something different. Each of us shared how we started stamping, and how we knew Margaret. As we exchanged cards, we explained what we used to make them, and any special techniques used.
HIGH TIDE
This card uses the High Tide stamp set. The background is created by using Sponges and ink pads, and masking off areas while stamping and sponging.
Creating a scene to set a mood with this stamp set is easy. I chose to do the lighthouse on a stormy day. I had seen a similar card on Pinterest, and had to make my own! The whitecaps on the waves are made with my white Gel pen, and the rain is made with the lines image in the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set. The colours are Pacific Point and Island Indigo for the water and sky. The sand is Crumb Cake ink, and the lighthouse is Memento Black ink and Cherry Cobbler.
You definitely want to do the masking off of the lighthouse after you’ve stamped, so that you don’t see the water through it! The fact that the lighthouse is a 2 step stamp also creates a more realistic looking lighthouse.
This is a picture of the cards:
DID YOU KNOW?
Did you know that you can purchase the cards I make? That’s right – I do make a lot of cards, and if you see a design that you like, just send me an email at debsmart@shaw.ca, and we’ll deal with the details.
SEE YOU TOMORROW
I’ll be back tomorrow to share my other design. I still have to take pictures of all of the swap cards I received. As soon as I get that done, I’ll share them, too.
