Welcome back, to another new project! As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, the resin sculptures take a few days to create. So of course, I have to be working on something else at the same time! I’m calling this 3D framed art Catch of the Day. I incorporated a décor version of a fishing net along with real sea shells, a starfish shell, and small rocks & bubbles.
FRAMED 3D ART
Doing this type of art is such fun! I love how the objects extend past the frame, and of course you can touch & feel them.
The whole piece is created directly onto the (plexi)glass of the frame, and then inserted into the frame when cured. First, the background is created using tinted resin. I tried to give the feeling of clouds in the sky, along with the beautiful ocean colours.
Next, the fishing net is added, and the shells & other inclusions added in, under and around the net.
SIDE VIEW
In these side view photos, you can see the dimension of the piece.
The crisp white of the frame really offsets the blue and turquoise of the water. It also keeps that fresh, oceanside feeling.
This particular frame can be stood up on a desk or table, or hung on a wall.
ART SHOW OR SHOP
If it doesn’t sell in my Shop beforehand, I’ll be taking it with me to the Art Show & Sale in early May. I think this is a perfect piece for anyone who lives here on the coast – or wishes they did! I’m really happy with how it turned out, and I’ll probably create another, slightly different version of it, again.
I’ll be listing this Catch of the Day, plus the finished resin sculptures, by the end of this week. I’ll be back before then, to share the other sculptures with you. Have a wonderful, creative week!
I love this, Deborah! Especially all the shells and the “movement” of the water and sky. Beautiful!
