I pulled out one of my favourite die sets from last year, the Poppystamps Birdhouse Pop Up Easel Set. You can see how I used as a pop-up card in THIS POST, but for today, I just used the dies for my card front.

How cute is this?!  You should see the sparkle in real life – good thing it’s summer, and I have sunglasses!

The die set makes it very easy to construct and personalize your bird house – and your bird! Simply choose your cardstock colours, get out your Big Shot, and start die cutting! I chose neutral colours for the birdhouse, so that my red cardinal would really stand out.  The bird die automatically embosses the area around the beak & eye, if like me you want to make this a cardinal. If not, just switch up the colours! The die for the birdhouse front does the same; embosses the lines, so it looks like a shiplap design for the boards. Usually I would emphasize those lines with shading, but this time I decided to add some snow, by using  my Posca Paint Pen in white.   The black, white and yellow on the cardinal are also added with my Posca Paint Pens – I love using these, and am so happy that they’re now in the Scrap ‘N Stamp shop!

For the sparkly snow die cuts and card layer, use the beautiful Tonic Sugar Crystal glitter cardstock.  The sentiment is from the Poppystamps Christmas Fun sentiments stamp set.

To add the snow under the sentiment, I simply die cut an extra piece of the snow that goes along the top of the bird house, and cut it in half.

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a card, painting or other project - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you create with me! :)
