Hey stamping friend! Today I’m going to share a card that wasn’t easy for me to make. If you know me and my style, you’ll see why; it’s because it’s a pretty Clean and Simple Christmas Card. And CAS (clean and simple) just isn’t normally my style!
In fact, I CASEd this card from one I saw on Facebook; I think it was from Patty Bennett, a demo in the U.S. I just made a couple of minor changes to it – still trying to keep it CAS! 🙂
CAROLS OF CHRISTMAS
This card combines the Carols of Christmas stamp set and Card Front Builder Dies with the Seasonal Layers Thinlits Dies.
SUPPLIES
Stamp set: Carols of Christmas. Cardstock: Real Red, Whisper White, Soft Suede. Inks: Real Red, Pool Party, Emerald Envy, Garden Green, Basic Black, Real Red Stampin’ Write Marker, Garden Green Stampin’ Write Marker. Accessories: Gently Falling Embossing Folder, Seasonal Layers Thinlits Dies, 3/8″ Shimmer Ribbon in Pool Party. Tools: Big Shot. Adhesives: Stampin’ Dimensionals, Mini Glue Dots.
DETAILS
First create your card base in Real Red cardstock, which measures 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored and folded at 4 1/4″. Next, die cut the branch from Crumb Cake cardstock using the Big Shot and the Seasonal Layers Thinlits. Lay it in place on the 4″ x 5 1/4″ Whisper White panel, so you can judge where you want to stamp the ‘strings’ for the ornaments. Stamp the 2 different ‘string’ images onto the panel in Basic Black ink. After the stamping, emboss the panel using the Gently Falling Embossing Folder.
On a separate piece of white cardstock, stamp the ornament images. I used Pool Party, Real Red and Emerald Envy ink. Also stamp the holly images, first colouring the berries with the Real Red marker, and the leaves with the Garden Green marker. Then you can die cut them all with the Card Front Builder Thinlits.
PUTTING IT TOGETHER
Once you have all your pieces stamped and die cut, you’re ready to assemble your card! First attach the branch with Mini Glue Dots, lining it up with the left edge of the white embossed panel. Next, use more Glue Dots to attach your ornaments to the end of their strings.
To finish it off, wrap a length of the 3/8″ Shimmer Ribbon in Pool Party over the left edge of the white panel. Attach it to the back of the panel with either Liquid Glue, or Tear & Tape. Tie a separate ribbon bow, and add it to the front with a Glue Dot. Finally, attach your front panel to the card base with Dimensionals.
