Hello again, my stamping friend!

Wow, we are having an early summer here in Vancouver; temperatures yesterday got up to 30 degrees Celsius, and we’re expecting the same again today!  It is expected to cool down a bit towards the end of the week, but we’re enjoying it while it lasts! 🙂  Certainly a big change from last week, when we had wild wind, thunder, lightning, hail and rain!

So, how are you weathering after seeing the retiring list?  I have to admit that I will miss quite a few of the retiring stamps sets, but wait until you see what’s in the new catalogue!  I truly was surprised to see things like the glue sticks,, and lots of Framelits and all of the Bigz Dies going – but again – wait until you see the new catalogue!  I’m not allowed to share pictures from inside the catalogue – but I will come back later and give you a peek at the cover 🙂

Right now, I thought I’d share with you  a couple more of the fun Collar Fold cards that I made.  I really like how this simple fold creates such a wow on a card front, and how you can show off both sides of a designer series paper using it.

This first one is one I sent for my #imbringingbirthdaysback campaign, to a wonderful lady named Gloria:

I was having such fun with the Sale-A-Bration set, Party Pants, and the Balloon Celebrations set (did you notice that it wasn’t on the retiring list? yay!!)

My card base is Whisper White, and I used a piece of the Its My Party DSP to create the fold.  The balloons from Balloon Celebrations were stamped in Melon Mambo and Crushed Curry, then punched using the Balloon Bouquet Punch.  I tied them together using the Gold Metallic Thread, and added the die cut bow from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits (also not on the retiring list!)

Of course, I had to keep the party going by stamping the confetti shapes on the card and the envelope – and the inside of the card:

I also added a layer of Melon Mambo cardstock inside, then another layer of Whisper White, to amp up the fun 🙂  The inside sentiment is from the Party Pants set, stamped in Melon Mambo ink.

Another Collar Fold card I made and sent to a good friend of mine, Jean, who is also a SU! demo in Oregon.  Jean is also a member of our Wacky Watercooler Blog Hops, and contributing member of our Watercooler Challenges – not to mention being a talented and funny lady 🙂

For Jean’s  card, I used the beautiful Botanical Gardens DSP for the collar fold, and created a flower using the Botanical Builders Framelits and cardstock in Hello Honey, Mint Macaron and Cajun Craze.  The leaves are from the same Framelits set, die cut using Old Olive cardstock.  (again – another set that was not on the retiring list – but if you want to save on the bundle, buy it now!)

The ‘hello’ is from the Tin of Cards stamp set; I simply inked up just the one word from the ‘a happy hello’ stamp in Mint Macaron ink (the full sentiment just wouldn’t fit – it’s not that I didn’t want my hello to be happy!)

Of course, the stamping was continued onto the envelope, and inside of the card:

I added a panel of Hello Honey cardstock to the inside of this card; I added the sentiment later, as I wanted lots of room to write a note to my friend 🙂

I hope you’ll give this fold a try, it’s very easy to do!  Simply cut your DSP the same size as your card front; measure down to the middle of the right hand side and mark that spot, then cut inwards from that spot to 1 1/2″, then fold back each side.  You can use your Simply Scored to score a line from each corner to the middle cut, if that makes you feel better about folding the DSP!

That’s it for my cards today; I do hope you’ll check back tomorrow for the Watercooler Challenge – you’re going to want to join in!

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a card, painting or other project - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you create with me! :)

I love to read what you have to say! Thanks for commenting ;)
