Country Home stamp set

I admit that I resisted buying the Country Home stamp set at first. I just don’t ‘do’ fall or thanksgiving cards. I know that some people make it a big holiday. But here in Canada – at least in my family, it’s just another day to get together for a big dinner. I do love me some turkey with stuffing & gravy, though!  Anyway, I just kept seeing gorgeous projects made with this Country Home set. So, I decided that the images could be used any time of year, and several of the sentiments, as well. So thank you, all my enabling friends, for sharing your gorgeous cards!

I love the 2 rustic container images in this set, but I decided I wanted to show off a way to use the floral grouping images in a different way.

Something different, right? I quite like how it turned out.

Create your sentiment strip on with a piece of Whisper White cardstock 2″ x 4 1/4″, with a panel of Nature’s Poem Designer Series Paper of 2 1/4″ x 4 1/4″ behind it.  Stamp the sentiment from the Country Home stamp set in Blackberry Bliss ink. Now that you know the width of your sentiment panel, you can figure out where to stamp the floral images. On a panel of 4″ x 5 1/4″, stamp the floral image twice, in Memento black ink. Place them so that they will be visible behind your sentiment, and space one to the left, and one to the right, as in the picture above.

You can use any medium you like to colour the images. I used our Watercolour Pencils, with a Blender Pen to blend them. For the leaves, use Balmy Blue and Granny Apple Green. The artichoke is coloured with Gorgeous Grape, Garden Green and Granny Apple Green. To colour the cattails, (or hot dogs, as my youngest son used to call them!) blend a combination of Cherry Cobbler, Cajun Craze and Early Espresso. The small leaves are coloured in Garden Green, and the berries in Real Red. You may notice that not all of the colours I used are in the Watercolor Pencils pack, currently in the catalogue. That’s because I picked up a pack of the new colours that were available last month, for a limited time. I do hope they’ll come back in another catalogue, because I just love using them!

Here’s a close up, so you can see what fun I had colouring the images!

Layer the sentiment strip on top of the DSP strip, with Multipurpose Liquid Glue. Attach loops of Metallic Thread in Copper on the back side of the panels; hold it in place with Tear & Tape. HINT: I lay down a strip or 2 of Tear & Tape on the back, remove the backing, and then press the metallic thread onto the tape as I’m creating the loops. It helps save my sanity!

This card could be used for a thank you card, or a thanksgiving card. Maybe a congratulations card for someone’s great accomplishment?

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a card, painting or other project - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you create with me! :)
