Crazy About Critters

CRAZY ABOUT CRITTERS

If you know me, you know I love all kinds of animals. So when I saw the Paper Players new challenge called Crazy About Critters – I had to join! Here’s a look at their inspiration picture.

YOU’RE CLAW-SOME!

It also gave me a perfect reason to use my new Lawn Fawn stamp set and matching die called You’re Claw-some. I just love this set, and as soon as I saw it I thought of the original Toy Story movie.  Let’s see if you can figure out what I mean!

Crazy About Critters

All I can hear in my head is the little green alien toys saying “The Claw! We must go now – the Claw is coming!” OMGosh – that movie came out just after my oldest son was born – that was 1995! It’s still one of my favourite movies, and makes me laugh every time I watch it.

CARD FRONT DETAILS

Stamp your ‘claw-some’ machine onto white cardstock in Memento Black ink. Colour in the bears with markers. I used a couple of shades of brown, and added some pink to some of the ears. Finish colouring in the machine using your choice of colours. I kept the colours to the primaries, since it is a toys for kids (big or little – no judging here!).

On separate pieces of white cardstock, stamp the unicorn and the claw, and colour them. Use the matching ‘You’re Claw-Some’ dies with a Big Shot to die cut these 2 pieces, as well as the machine itself. Attach the claw, holding the unicorn, with foam squares at the top of the machine.

Because I chose the unicorn as the ‘winning toy’ instead of another bear, I chose the ‘you’re one of a kind’ sentiment, and stamped it at the top of the machine in red ink. There’s lots of other mix & match sentiment pieces to use – it’s a fun set!

LAYER YOUR CARD FRONT

Attach the die cut machine onto a purple cardstock panel, with foam tape or squares. To create the panel underneath, drag the Seedless Preserves Distress Ink over an embossing folder – I used a SU! one. Lightly spray the inked folder with water, and then lay the white cardstock on top. Close the folder, and press down firmly for several seconds, to allow the ink to soak into the cardstock. If you want the actual impression, you can run the inked embossing folder through your Big Shot.

Layer everything together on a purple cardstock card base, and your card front is finished!

Crazy About Critters

Isn’t this too cute?! Have you ever tried playing one of these games before? I did, a couple of times when my boys were young, but without any luck! It seems that you’re always *this*  close to winning – until suddenly whatever you’ve picked up manages to fall out of the claw.

If you want to win the claw game – you can order this You’re Claw-Some stamp set and dies! Okay, you’re limited to winning a unicorn or a teddy bear – but at least you’re guaranteed a win *wink*.  Maybe you’d like to join the Paper Players challenge, too? Just click on to challenge photo at the top of the page – I’ve included the link in it for you.

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a card, painting or other project - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you create with me! :)
