Dashing Deer Wreath

I know I should be making more fall/autumn cards, but I seem to be caught up in a winter spirit! Today is another holiday card, a Dashing Deer wreath. I created the wreath by punching out multiples with the Sprig Punch, which can be bought individually, or Bundled with the Peaceful Noel stamp set – at a discount, of course!

To create the wreath, first start by die cutting a wreath form from Whisper White cardstock. Decide on the size you want, keeping in mind that the sprigs will extend past the outer edge of the form. Use the Big Shot with 2 Layering Circle Framelits; place one smaller one inside the next larger size on the cardstock, and cut.

Next, use the Sprig Punch and punch out many – I think I did about 20 – sprigs from white cardstock. Now use Multipurpose Liquid Glue to attach the punched sprigs to the wreath form. I used my technique from when I was a florist; basically create a ‘trident shape’  (like an upside down 3 tined fork) when placing the pieces – one pointing in the middle, one to the left and a third to the right. Continue on with this until you’re back at the beginning!

Create a card base from Sahara Sand cardstock. Next, add a panel of Joyous Noel Specialty Designer Series Paper, with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Attach your punched wreath to the middle, with the liquid glue.

On a piece of Whisper White, stamp the sentiment from the Dashing Deer stamp set in Versamark ink. Cover it with Copper Embossing Powder, and set with the Heat Tool. Use the Big Shot with the Bunch of Banners Framelits to die cut the sentiment, plus another banner the same shape in Copper Foil cardstock. (I know it looks gold in the picture, but it is copper, and it is copper on this sheet of DSP). Then use the Detailed Deer Thinlits to die cut the leaping deer, also from Copper Foil cardstock.

Layer the 2 banners, slightly offsetting them so you can see the copper behind the white. Attach the deer and banners to the middle of the wreath, with Dimensionals. I added some ‘bling’ to my wreath by adding some Clear Droplets from the Frosted & Clear Epoxy Droplets. I love these embellishments!

With all of the dimension created on this card, I think it is definitely one to be special delivered, by hand! Either that, or create a cute little box for it so it doesn’t suffer in the postal system.

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a card, painting or other project - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you create with me! :)
