Dashing Through the Snow

There’s more than one horse pulling this sleigh, but the song Dashing Through the Snow came time anyway! I’m back today to share another card with another of the images from the Tim Holtz Christmas Greetings stamp set. If you missed the cards I shared yesterday, be sure to check them out!

This image really is the quintessential holiday scene, isn’t it? Beside the holiday song, it reminds me of a Currier & Ives painting. Not that I’m saying my colouring is that good – just the image is similar!

Dashing Through the Snow

Frosty blues make me thing of snow, and of course red for the Christmas holidays!

Start wit a piece of white cardstock, and stamp the image in Nocturne ink. Cover with clear embossing powder, and heat set. Doing this will ensure that no ink will be smudged when colouring with alcohol markers.  I chose my Spectrum Noir Tri Blend markers for colouring the images – you can see that there’s not a lot to colour, so it goes very quickly. Die cut the image with an oval die. Next, use a blending tool to add Broken China Distress Oxide ink around the edges, leaving it white towards the middle.

Create a card base of red cardstock. Cut a panel of light blue cardstock, and stamp the small snowflakes from the Penny Black Season’s Marvel stamp set in Versamark ink. Next, use the MFT Wonky Stitched Rectangle dies to cut & emboss the panel. Attach it to the card base with glue. Die cut a larger oval in red cardstock, and layer it behind the stamped oval. Finally, attach those to the middle of your card base, and you’re done!

This would be a great card to ‘mass produce’ if you have a lot to send out this holiday season! I hope I’ve given you some inspiration for your own holiday cards; have a fun, inky day!

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a card, painting or other project - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you create with me! :)

    1. There should be an old fashioned group of carolers singing ‘The Holly & The Ivy’, while you’re looking at this, right Susan?! 😉 I’m glad that you like my ‘dashing’ card!

  1. Hola, Deb! Where are you? I don’t get your blog posts and I emailed you, but never heard back. I just wanted to check in and say hello and make sure that you are okay. Your cards are so pretty. Are you ready for Christmas?? By the way, I tried to re-subscribe to your blog and it said that I am already subscribed eventhough I don’t receive anything. =) ha-ha I just wanted to say hello and see how you are. How is the weather in BC? We got “cold” (46*F for the high), but we are back up into the 80’s again. Don’t laugh at us, Deb. Don’t mock us for being lame. ha-ha-ha Have a great week. tu amiga, Mari
