it’s that time of year again – fall colours! I just love deep jewel tones, so fall is one of my favourite seasons. So you’ve been warned – you’ll probably be seeing a lot of these colours for the next while. Today I’m sharing a fall themed tree, using the Altenew In My Thoughts stamp set.
IN MY THOUGHTS
For this card, I didn’t use the coordinating die. I simply stamped directly onto the front panel of the card.
Using a stamp platform is key to making this card an easy process.
Set up your white cardstock panel and the solid tree trunk image in your stamp platform. Cover the image with Tea Dye Distress ink, and stamp. Clean & remove the stamp, and then line up the tree trunk outline image. Stamp that in a darker brown; I used SU! Soft Suede ink. Clean & remove that stamp, and then line up the foliage stamp.
To create the multi colours of the leaves, randomly add Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade and Fired Brick Distress inks onto the stamp. Smooth out the ink with a blending tool, and then stamp onto the panel. Using the platform allows you to easily add more or different colours, if you need to.
Finally, with the panel still in the platform, stamp the sentiment, also from the In My Thoughts stamp set, in Fired Brick Distress ink. Now you can remove the panel, and blend Broken China Distress Oxide ink to the top of the panel.
LAYER IT UP
Finish off your card with a dark gold cardstock base, and a dark orange panel. Layer a strip of the dark gold down the left side of the orange panel, before attaching your panel with foam tape or squares. Of course, be sure to add another white panel to the inside of the card, for writing your message.
I hope that your fall is off to a good start! It’s definitely ‘sweater weather’ here this week, with lots of rain & wind. A good excuse to stay inside and do some creating, right?! Have fun!
