Welcome back, stamping friends! I hope you had a great weekend; we did here at our house 🙂 We celebrated our eldest son’s 20th birthday (how on earth did he get so old, so quickly? I swear he was just a toddler….), as well as my Dad’s 83rd birthday. We usually combine the celebrations, as their birth dates are only 8 days apart; we just have a big family dinner & celebration here.
So guess what cards I have to show you?! LOL Yup – birthday cards 🙂
I decided to take one of the December Paper Pumpkin shaker cards – that I just love! – and add a little bit to it, for my Dad’s card. Here’s what I did
I added some extra stars on the front, just to carry the colour & theme; on the inside I stamped and added some more stars:
Amazing what just a little extra can do for the inside of a card, right?
I made our son’s card from ‘scratch’ – no kit for this one, though the tools and stamps from Stampin’ Up! made it quite easy!
I used a whole variety of sets for this card – but I think they went together really well! The ‘Happy’ is die cut from Silver Glimmer paper using the Hello You thinlits dies; the ‘birthday’ is stamped from the Age Awareness set in Versamark and heat embossed using Silver Embossing Powder on Whisper White card stock. I die cut the stars using the Stars Framelits set, in Smoky Slate, Island Indigo and Coastal Cabana card stocks. Everything was layered onto the card base; first a layer of Moonlight DSP, then a layer of Island Indigo card stock, then the Whisper White and stars.
Inside, I decided to have a little (more) fun!
You can sort of tell in the picture – I popped up the ‘Make a Wish’ on an Action Wobble, so that it would ‘bobble’ about when the card is opened! I stamped in Coastal Cabana (for the stars, I simply stamped once, then stamped again without re-inking the stamp, to achieve the 2 tones of ink). I achieved the look on the sentiment by using my 1″ Circle Punch, and snipping the very corner of the card stocks before layering them.
Everyone liked the cards, and had fun playing with the shaker, and the wobble! I love interactive cards 🙂
I’ve been very busy working on my swaps for Leadership convention, but since I’m not sure if anyone who is swapping with me, also may see my blog, I don’t want to spoil the surprise!
