Hello my friend! Today I’m going to share with you a fast and fun card to make! Which is good, because I really needed one, fast, to share with you. Do you ever get working on projects that are due in the future, but then forget to do the projects that are due tomorrow? Yeah, that was me! Anyway, I do hope you like this card.
I shared a card last week using the smaller image from the Altenew Everlasting Happiness stamp set. If you missed it, have a look HERE. That was a more ‘traditional’ card, where I coloured in the flowers with my Illustrator markers. Today’s fast & fun card uses the ink smooshing technique (yup, that’s the technical term!).
Isn’t that pretty? And you don’t need any special tools to do this technique, either!
Cut a panel of white cardstock. You can use watercolour paper if you want, but I just used regular cardstock. There is water involved, but not enough that it’s going to turn your project to mush. Now, on a slick waterproof surface – I used a piece of acetate, or you can use a craft mat – press you ink pads onto the surface, transferring the ink. Spray the ink with water, getting it quite wet, and moving the ink around.
Press your white panel into the watered down ink, picking up the colours in different spots on the panel. Keep doing this until your happy with how it looks. You may need to add more ink, water, or both to your crafting surface. Now, you need to allow your panel to dry. I sped up this process by using my heat tool.
Once your ink smooshed panel is dry, set it up in your MISTI, or other stamp platform. Place the large flower wreath image onto the panel, so that you’re happy with the placement. Close the lid to pick up the stamp, and ink it up with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Close the lid, and press down firmly (I call it CPR pressure) to transfer the image. The good news is, if you didn’t get a good impression the first time, just re-ink and stamp again! That’s why I used my MISTI.
Clean and remove the floral stamp, and line up the sentiment you want, from the Everlasting Happiness stamp set. I chose to combine the ‘Dream’ and ‘Believe’ sentiments. I think they go together; because if you don’t believe your dream, then it is just a dream! Stamp your sentiment in the same black ink, and then remove your panel.
LAYER IT UP
Offset your image panel onto a dark aqua cardstock panel, with foam tape. Next, attach these panels to a card base of green cardstock. To finish off the front of the card, add some embellishments. I chose some clear droplets from my stash, and added some pretty Gold Foil sequins, from Studio Katia.
MAKE YOUR OWN FUN AND FAST CARD!
You’ll seriously be amazed at how quickly this type of card comes together. Seriously – I think it took me longer to decide on which stamp set to use, than it took to make it! If you’re in the market for some supplies, I’ve added a list below, for your convenience. Have an awesome day!
