Faux Patina Look with Alcohol Inks

I hope you had a great weekend! Today is ‘Family Day’ here, so it’s a day off for everyone (except makers – we don’t have ‘official’ days off). I have one more card to share with you in the theme from Friday. If you missed those cards, you can see them in THIS POST.  I create a faux patina look with alcohol inks, on the special black matte alcohol ink cardstock.

This card started with a focal panel of the Ranger Alcohol Ink Black cardstock. You’d never know that, seeing it now!

Cut the black cardstock to size. Attach an alcohol ink felt applicator to the applicator handle. Add several drops of Deception Pearl alcohol ink, Gold Mixative, and Alcohol Blending Solution. Use a pouncing up & down motion to apply the inks to the cardstock. Keep moving the applicator around on the cardstock, to cover the entire thing. When the ink starts to lighten in application, repeat adding the inks & blending solution to the applicator. Then, repeat pouncing it onto the cardstock,  until you’re happy with the coverage.

This combination of colours creates the unique patina look; have fun trying different colour combinations to see the different effects you get! I’m looking forward to trying that; I’ll share results when I do.

When the panel is dry – only a few seconds! – use heart shaped dies to create the cut out’s in the front. Next, attach the panel to a card base of red cardstock.  To create the sentiment, use the Birch Press Designs Just a Note die & outline set. Die cut the background from Vellum, and the sentiment from red cardstock. Attach the red sentiment onto the vellum with liquid glue, and then attach both onto the card front with glue.  Finish off the card front by attach a small one of the Nuvo Cherry Hearts in the middle cut out.

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a card, painting or other project - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you create with me! :)
