Lately, I’ve been finding that my creativity comes and goes. Goodness knows it’s not because I have a lack of supplies, or inspiration surrounding me. I think that it’s just ‘pandemic fatigue’ setting in; that and the gray skies of winter. I managed to pull myself out of it a bit today, to colour these beautiful flowers in the Flourishing Note stamp set.
This stamp set, by Studio Katia, also has a matching die. That makes it so easy to pop it onto whatever kind of background you have.
Don’t those spring colours just pick up your spirits?! That, and the pink background make me think of spring.
First, start with a piece of watercolour paper. Set up the stamp in your MISTI, and then image in Nocturne ink. Because watercolour paper is textured, you’ll need to stamp at least twice, to get a full impression. Next, cover the stamping with clear embossing powder, and then heat set. Now you’re reading to colour with either watercolour paints, or as I did, use Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and a water brush.
After colouring, use the coordinating die with your Big Shot to die cut the image. Die cut it again, this time out of fun foam sheet, and glue them together. Next, die cut the ‘hello’, from the same die set, in dark pink, twice. Glue the two of them together.
Create the background by die cutting a piece of light pink cardstock with the Altenew Gradient Stripes Cover Die. Glue it to the front of a dark pink card base. Now, add the other die cuts to the card front. Finish off the card by adding a few Gina K. Sequins – Clear Quartz Solid.
The extra dimension added by the stacked word die cut, and the foam layer under the floral envelope is just the right amount.
I think that creating this flourishing note helped pick up my spirits, Sending it I think will help pick up someone else’s spirits, too! If you’d like to do that, I’m sure it would be very welcome.
