Welcome to Friday, my friend! Do the days of the week really ‘mean’ anything, anymore? For me, they’re more marked by those family members who leave the house for work. Both my husband and oldest son are considered ‘essential services’, so they do work daily. Although they have regular gloves to wear, there are no masks of any kind available, so I worry every day. Keeping creative helps me keep the worries at bay, so today I have some fun and fast bookmarks to share with you. A lot of people have more time to read – so that means more bookmarks are needed, right? These would be a fun gift to pop into your neighbour’s mailbox 🙂
A TRIO OF BOOKMARKS
I had some odd sizes of scraps, so I cut them each to 2″ x 5 1/2″. For 2 of them I used the December 2019 My Monthly Hero Kit, since it was still on my desk from this project. For the third one, I chose the fun Dylusions Laugh ‘Til You Leak stamp set.
With bright colours and ribbons, these will brighten up anyone’s day!
PROTECT THE EARTH
This is the 1st one I made with the December MMH Kit. To create it, first use the MMH Reactive Ink Palette (it comes in the Kit) and swipe it directly onto the cardstock. Next, stamp the bird & branch at the top of the bookmark. Stamp the circle outline, and then the sentiment inside it. Finally, stamp each hand on either side of the circle. Versafine ink in Nocturne is used on all of the bookmarks.
AN ABUNDANCE OF HAPPINESS
The images & sentiment on this bookmark are also from the MMH Dec. 2019 Kit. First, create the background with the Altenew Beach Towel Stripes stencil. Hold the stencil in place with Purple Tape. Next, create the ombre background by applying Distress Inks in Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade and Abandoned Coral, with a blending tool. Next, set up the bookmark in your MISTI, and set up the sentiment and image stamps where you want them. Cover the stamps with Nocturne ink, and stamp firmly.
FEEL FABULOUS
For this last bookmark, attach the Tim Holtz Flourish Stencil on top of the bookmark, with Purple Tape. Use a blending tool to apply Picked Raspberry Distress Ink through the stencil. Next, stamp the sentiment from the Dylusion Laugh ’til You Leak stamp set in Nocturne ink.
To create the fancy top on each bookmark, I used a Stampin’ Up! punch called Scalloped Tag Topper. Then, I raided my sizable ribbon stash to tie on a coordinating ribbon to each bookmark.
