This past Friday was my monthly Blends Club, where we get together and have fun with Stampin’ Blends Markers. The Club was formed to allow the members to get the complete Blends Markers collection, over 4 months. At each meeting, we make 2 full cards, practice tips, techniques and colouring with the Blends. Each member also gets, as a gift from me, the Ivory, Bronze and Color Lifter Markers, over the 4 months.
FUN WITH STAMPIN’ BLENDS MARKERS
This month, I gave everyone their Bronze Markers, so we used it in a couple of different ways. It can be used as a ‘skin tone’ marker, as well as for general colouring.
Using a combination of Light Pink Pirouette and Bronze, the legs and arms of the little girl from the Birthday Delivery stamp set are coloured and contoured. The hair is coloured with a combination of the Light Crumb Cake and Bronze markers. To colour the dress, we used Light Pool Party and Light Night of Navy Blends markers.
BRONZE BLENDS MARKER FOR SHADING
This Bronze marker is also great for creating shadows, or shading, on images. For this next project, we used the sentiment and floral stamp from the Color Me Happy stamp set. DETAILS
After stamping the sentiment and flowers in Memento Black ink onto Whisper White, the main flower and the main part of the words were coloured with the Light Calypso Coral Blends marker. The shading and shadows were added with the Bronze marker, then blended by going back over it with the Light Calypso Coral marker.
Did you know that you can also colour your embellishments and ribbon with the Blends Markers? It’s true! Here, we coloured the Whisper White Solid Baker’s Twine with the Dark Calypso Coral Blends! A perfect solution if you don’t happen to have the right colour in your stash 🙂
The rest of the card uses Calypso Coral cardstock for the base, and Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper for the background panel.
CREATING A BACKGROUND WITH BLENDS MARKERS
You don’t always have to use the Light & Dark of one Blends Marker, when creating. You can also combine different colours very nicely!
This stamped panel started as a simple Whisper White piece of cardstock. First, the entire panel was covered using the Light Daffodil Delight Blends marker. Then, starting at the bottom, Light Old Olive, then Light Pumpkin Pie, then Dark Daffodil Delight Blends were added. After adding each colour, go back with the first one, to blend them together and soften the lines.
After colouring, the image from the retired Serene Silhouettes was stamped twice in the bottom left corner, in Memento Black ink.
It was layered onto a panel of Daffodil Delight cardstock, that had been embossed with the Big Shot and Brick Wall Embossing Folder. The card base is Old Olive cardstock.
Did you notice the ribbon, on the 2 corners? I didn’t want to use the Daffodil Delight ribbon I had on hand – so we made our own! Use a retired Whisper White ribbon, and the Dark Daffodil Delight Blends marker to colour your own! (I didn’t have the new W.W. Organza ribbon, but you can use that one, too!)
