I always look forward to the last Friday night of each month – that’s when my Technique Junquies Club gets together!  I plan at least 2 new techniques to teach the group; they can include inking, stamping, creative card folds, different types of cards (spinner, waterfall, etc.).  And I always keep the upcoming techniques a secret, so it’s a pleasant surprise for everyone!

Last night we did two techniques; the first one was ‘Floating Re-inkers’.  This is such a fun technique, using (of course) re-inkers, Aqua Painters, water spritzers and fun!!

I chose to use the gorgeous Blended Bloom stamp, as it’s perfect for this technique.  All the separate petals lend themselves perfectly to adding colour to each one individually.

First we stamped the image in Versamark ink & Melon Mambo ink; then heat embossed it with Clear embossing powder.  After spritzing it with water, we added the ink colours using the Aqua Painters.

You can see the concentration happening here:

They’re working inside an empty stamp case, since there was water spritzing happening, and remember – it is called ‘floating re-inkers’! 🙂  You can only see Amanda (front) and Debbie in this picture.

Here is the end result of my card – I really wish I had gotten a picture of everyone’s cards, because even though we all did the same technique, no card looks the same! Maybe the ladies can email me pictures of their cards, and I’ll share them on here! (hint, hint!)

Isn’t this pretty!?  The ink colours we used were Melon Mambo (initial stamp), then Strawberry Slush, Crisp Cantaloupe and Daffodil Delight inks.

The next technique is a stamping technique, that also involves some paper technique – mainly, the cutting of the layers of card stock correctly, so that your card turns out the way you want!  We did the Triple Time Stamping Technique, using the Kinda Eclectic stamp set.

The variety of images in this stamp set lend itself wonderfully to this technique.  You don’t even need a sentiment on the outside of the card!

I chose to use alternating panels of Whisper White (for stamping) and Old Olive (for the framing).  Our ink colours used are Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, Rich Razzleberry and Cajun Craze.

If you live in the area (I’m in Burnaby, B.C.) and would like to join our Technique Club, we’d love to have you!  We meet the last Friday of each month, from 7:00 – 9:00 pm.  Each class we do 2-3 techniques, with at least 1 full project/card.  You leave the class with your project(s), full written step-by-step instructions for each technique, and a sample of each technique done.  When you first join, your first class includes the binder for keeping your technique instructions and samples for future use, plus sheet protectors.  This way, you can always refer back to figure out ‘how did I make this?’, and you’ll be able to re-create our projects, or create a brand new one – because you’ll be confident in your ability to do it!

So if you’d like to join our fun club, just send me an email debsmart@shaw.ca or give me a call at 604.298.0472.  I’m looking forward to have you join the fun!

I hope you’ll come back tomorrow, when I’ll be posting for another Creation Station Blog Tour!

Until then – happy stamping!

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a card, painting or other project - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you create with me! :)

I love to read what you have to say! Thanks for commenting ;)
