Goodbye, Birthday Blooms! I’m really going to miss you! This stamp set is on the Retiring list – if you don’t already have it, please do yourself a favour and go get it! It has a gorgeous large image flower that is perfect for colouring with any and all of our colouring mediums. Whether you use our Markers, Blends, Brusho, Watercolour Pencils or Classic Inks with a Blender Pen, you can’t go wrong.
BIRTHDAY BLOOMS
I really wanted to focus on this large flower, so it’s my focal point for the card. To make sure I didn’t distract from the card, I didn’t add a sentiment, or a ‘busy’ background.
DETAILS
Sale-A-Bration is over, but I’m sure I’m not the only one who still has some of the gorgeous Springtime Foils Specialty Designer Series Paper left over! Since the polka-dots are in a Rose Gold Foil, I chose to use my Rich Razzleberry Blends Markers for the flower.
First, stamp the image in Versamark ink onto Whisper White cardstock. Cover with Gold Embossing Powder, and set with the Heat Tool. Hint – don’t be like me, and forget to use your Embossing Buddy! You can see the little marks where excess embossing powder stuck to my cardstock, because I didn’t use the Embossing Buddy to remove any static or oils from the cardstock. Live and learn, right?!
After embossing, use the Dark Rich Razzleberry Blends marker to create shading, and blend with the Light Rich Razzleberry Blends. Do the same for the leaves, with the Old Olive Blends Marker Combo (Light & Dark). Finish the middle of the flower with the Dark Daffodil Delight Blends Marker. Now use the Big Shot with the Layering Circles Framelits to die cut the image.
Cut the Springtime Foils DSP with your Stampin’ Trimmer into 1″ x 4″ strips, and layer them onto a 4″ x 5 1/4″ panel of Gold Foil Paper, with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I staggered the layering, so that every other strip is at an uneven height.
On the back of your stamped image, attach Stampin’ Dimensionals, and remove the backing, exposing the sticky back. Now wind your Gold Metallic Thread back & forth, with the loops hanging over each side of the circle. Once you’ve done that, attach the circle in the middle of the strips of Springtime Foils DSP.
I love the shading you can achieve with the Stampin’ Blends Markers. I know they’re not available to order right now, but hopefully the manufacturer will have our supply ready soon (possibly mid-May) so we can all order them again!
INSIDE STAMPING
I really like the combination of fonts used in this stamp set! I’m always so picky about inside sentiments, so when I find one I love, I tend to hang onto it! In other words – yes, I’ll be keeping this set, even after it’s retired!
Stamp the sentiment onto a panel of Whisper White, in Rich Razzleberry ink. Then add a few of the dots image stamp around it, for a little extra touch.
GET IT BEFORE IT’S GONE!
As I said, this Birthday Blooms stamp set is on the Retiring List *sniff*. Stamps set availability is guaranteed until May 25th, but after that, it’s while supplies last! Please, don’t wait until the last minute to order your stamps! It’s happened to many people, including me (hard lesson learned) that I kept putting off ordering the stamps I wanted, until it was too late.
Remember that even retiring products all count towards you earning Stampin’ Rewards on your order! Once your order reaches the qualifying amount, you start earning credit towards more product!
You can check out the Retiring Products on THIS PAGE in my online store; click all of the categories to see the remaining stamp sets, bundles, and everything else. Order online, using Host Code KWPTAWEH, and if your order is over $50, I’ll send you a little ‘thank you’ in May! Thanks for visiting me today – I hope I’ve given you some inspiration for using your products! I’d love to read any comment you’d like to leave for me 🙂
You did a beautiful coloring job, Deborah. I love the strips of cardstock in the background!
Beautiful card (I’m going to miss this set as well) – and I love the stips of DSP on the foil.
