Happy Bird-Day!

Happy Bird-Day! Ha, Ha! I love a play on words, and when I saw this cute idea on social media for playing with our Happy Birthday Thinlits, I knew I was going to try it. This card also includes two retiring items; the Bird Banter stamp set and the Petal Passion Designer Series Paper.

Happy Bird-Day!

Isn’t this fun? Of course, if you’re going to say ‘bird day’, you have to have birds! The Bird Banter stamp set is another retiring set that I’m going to miss;  it’s just so fun!

DETAILS

The focus, of course, is creating the saying. To do this, die cut 2 of the Happy Birthday Thinlits from Lemon Lime Twist cardstock, with the Big Shot. With one of the sayings, cut out the ‘t’ and ‘h’ letters with your Paper Snips. With the 2nd saying, cut out the letter ‘d’, and attach it onto the end of the letter ‘r’ on your first saying. Use the Multipurpose Liquid Glue for an almost invisible attachment. You can see, above, that’s there a natural gap between your new word ‘bird’ and ‘day’!

Now choose which birds you want, and stamp them in Memento Black ink onto Whisper White cardstock. Use your Stampin’ Write Markers to colour them, using a Blender Pen for shading where you want.  I used the Lemon Lime Twist, Melon Mambo, Pool Party and Peekaboo Peach Markers, along with a Blender Pen to make some of the colours lighter than full strength.

After colouring, use your Paper Snips to hand cut out each bird. Attach the sentiment in the middle of the Petal Passion DSP with Mini Glue Dots, then attach the birds with Stampin’ Dimensionals around the letters.  Attach this panel to a panel of Lemon Lime Twist cardstock with Dimensionals, then attach it to a card base of Melon Mambo cardstock.

To finish off the card front, attach a few of the Tutti-frutti Adhesive Backed Sequins. How convenient is the fact that they’re adhesive backed?! If you appreciate this convenience, you’ll be happy with something in the new catalogue coming up! *wink, wink*

Happy Bird-Day!

The lines on the DSP act as ‘branches’ for the birds – except that little Budgie, perched on top of the ‘y’ in Happy!

ADD TO THE INSIDE

I couldn’t resist adding another bird to the inside panel of the card!

Happy Bird-Day!

I always add a panel of Whisper White cardstock to the inside of my cards, for two reasons. First, it makes it much easier to see and read any written and stamped sentiments! Second, I think it just finishes off the card more nicely, and presents a finished, more polished look.

After all – with this cute bird and saying – you don’t want them to be missed! 🙂

ORDER BEFORE THEY’RE GONE!

As I mentioned earlier, the Bird Banter stamp set and the Petal Passions DSP are both on the Retiring List. Make sure you don’t miss out on these great products before they’re gone! Stamp sets are guaranteed available until May 25th, but with everything else, it’s while supplies last! Check out the Retiring Products in my Online Store, where you can shop 24/7. The good news is that the Happy Birthday Thinlits is being carried over to the new catalogue!  Click on the product images below, to order the supplies I used to create this card.

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a card, painting or other project - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you create with me! :)
