Happy Birthday, Cupcake!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CUPCAKE!

This one is for all of the March babies out there – happy birthday, cupcake! Do you prefer cupcakes, or a cake on your birthday? I’m more of a traditionalist, I guess – wanting a cake. Plus, there’s usually the whole family around, so 1 cake between everyone is a good idea. On the other hand, if there’s lots of allergies and/or ‘fussy eaters’, individual cupcakes could be the way to go! However you do it – celebrate your birthday just the way you want it.  Today’ I’m sharing another card made with the Altenew Layered Cupcake stamp set.

CELEBRATE WITH A CUPCAKE (OR TWO)

Happy Birthday, Cupcake!

Every year passed = a treat earned, don’t you think? Now, I don’t mean that in a cumulative way. Like, if you’re turning 35 you should eat 35 cupcakes! Well, maybe you could, but you probably shouldn’t! I just mean that you should congratulate yourself on making it through the ups and downs of another year, and treat yourself 🙂

CARD DETAILS

To make this card for your favourite cupcake cutie, start with a panel of white cardstock. Stamp the different layers of the cupcake – I love how this image has so many layers that make it look so 3D! I start with the 2 step cupcake liner, then stamp the cupcake (gotta be chocolate for this girl!), and then do the 3 step icing.  Choose you favourite colours! I used Spiced Marmalade and Abandoned Coral Distress Inks for the liner; SU! Soft Suede ink for the cupcake, and finally Spun Sugar, Powder Pink and Worn Lipstick ink for the icing.

After stamping your cupcake, stamp the sentiments, also from the Layered Cupcake stamp set, in Memento Tuxedo Black ink above it.  Add a finishing touch using the different sized dots in the stamp set, and stamp them in the same colours you used for your cupcake.

Happy Birthday, Cupcake!

Put your card together by layering it onto a panel that matches one of your ink colours, and then onto a card base of another matching colour. This ties it all together! If you wanted less layers, you could just attach your stamped image panel directly to your card base.

MAKE YOUR OWN CUPCAKE CARD!

This fun card comes together quickly & easily – but it looks like you put a lot of work into it! If you want to ‘step it up’ a notch, you can order the matching dies for the stamp set! (they were on back order when I got my stamps). I’ve included some links for you below, if you’d like to order any of the supplies.  In the meantime –  have a Happy Birthday, Cupcake!

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a card, painting or other project - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you create with me! :)

    1. Hopefully Mike will bring you a cupcake today, Buffy! (maybe a little ‘prompt’ would help?) Glad you like my card 🙂
