Happy Birthday, Gorgeous!

Isn’t that just the best thing you could hear on your birthday?! Friends should always compliment friends, especially on days when they might not be feeling their best. And birthdays can be a touchy subject! This is another card that my class of new stampers will be making this weekend. It’s quick, easy, and looks very stylish!

The image & sentiment are from the Stampin’ Up! Beautiful You stamp set. It’s at least a year old, or maybe more. But the images are so classic, I just had to put it in the ‘keep’ pile, when I was purging my stamps.

Another great thing about this set is that the images can be coloured in two ways. First, you can use the loose ‘sketch style’ colour stamp, as I did above. Or second, you can choose to stamp the image and then use your favourite medium for colouring, like markers, pencils or paints.  Since most of the class participants are new to stamping, I decided that we’d use the stamp.

First, create a card base of dark purple cardstock. Next, attach a layer of patterned paper to it. I chose a white with gold dots pattern, because it simple yet elegant, like the stamped image. It adds some interest to the background, without overwhelming or taking away from the focal image.

Stamp the image onto a piece of white cardstock in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Next, stamp over it with the colour; I used a dark purple. Die cut the image with a stitched oval die, and your Big Shot die cutting machine. Also cut another oval, slight larger, in gold foil cardstock, and layer it behind the image piece, using foam tape or foam squares.

Stamp the sentiment onto a strip of white cardstock, in the same dark purple ink. Cut a slightly larger piece of the dark purple cardstock to layer behind it.

Attach the image ovals to the front panel of the card, using foam tape or squares. Next, attach the sentiment layers using liquid glue, tucking it in behind the bottom of the image oval.  To finish off the card front, add some gold enamel dots on the sentiment and image oval. This is to carry on the gold dots in the paper design.

Have fun with your next creation, whether your an experienced stamper, or just starting out! I hope today’s post has inspired you. Leave a comment, and let me know!

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a card, painting or other project - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you create with me! :)
