Holiday Greetings in Blue and White

Welcome to this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge! If  you’re like me, and haven’t finished making your Christmas cards yet, use this as an opportunity to make one more! Today’s card is a holiday greeting in blue and white, with some sparkle and shine for holiday fun. First, let’s look at the sketch you’ll be working from.

This sketch has an interesting combination of layers. Remember that you can change the focal shape; maybe you prefer squares, or stars, instead of circles. You can also flip it sideways, or upside down. Whatever works for your project, as long as we can still see the basic sketch in your work.

I used the Tim Holtz Holiday Greetings stamp set for my project. This is the last of the 4 images in this set; I hadn’t used this one yet.

I’m still  hoping that we’ll get snow here before Christmas! Until then, it’s all just on my cards.

Create your card base of dark blue cardstock. Layer it with a panel of silver foil paper. Add a 2″ wide strip of white & silver striped paper across the bottom portion, about 1 1/2″ above the bottom. Next, layer 2 strips across the middle horizontally; one of dark blue and the other of white sparkle paper.

On a larger piece of dark blue cardstock, stamp the image from the Holiday Greetings set in Versamark ink. Cover it with white embossing powder, and heat set. Next, use a large scallop circle die to die cut the sentiment, and a regular circle die to cut another circle from the sparkle paper.  Layer the 2 circles together with foam tape, and then attach it to the card front, with more foam tape. Add your rhinestone embellishments, and you’re done!

If you need to make this card more ‘post friendly’, you could skip the foam tape, and layer everything with glue, instead.

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a card, painting or other project - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you create with me! :)
