keep calm and don't panic hoard

It happens every year, and we know it’s coming; the Retiring List. But with the exception of the In Colors and the Designer Series Paper, which always retire yearly, we are never sure of what else will be leaving. Okay – this year was the BIG exception with the DSP – for the first time in memory, we have a DSP that is carrying over! It’s the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack!

With this years Colour Revamp, there are a few more surprises than usual; Island Indigo – retiring?! Say it isn’t so!! 🙁  Wait – Blackberry Bliss is returning? Hurray!! All 3 purples are retiring?! But hey – look at the new ones coming in!

It’s a veritable roller coaster of emotions, every year. And my husband thought that me entering ‘that stage’ of life was bad enough! Ha ha! Seriously, though, if you’re having even a bit of the same reaction as me, I’d like to share some tips with you on how to get through the Retiring stage (of Stampin’ Up! projects, not life. I’m not there yet!).

This  is important! If you have a lot of ink pads, make sure that  you have the ink refills to go with them! You don’t want to be caught in the middle of stamping the most amazing project ever, just to find your ink pad dry, and no reinker.

Click the button below to see the retiring colours, and if you need the ink refill, or you’ve been procrastinating about buying the ink pad – buy both, now! Yes, I know that Blackberry Bliss is coming back this year, but there’s no guarantee that this year’s colours will be back in time for your next project!

Retiring Items I WIll Miss

You will also see, under this link, the cardstock, embellishments, dies, embossing folders, etc. that are retiring. BUY THEM NOW! If you want them, that is. Otherwise, you chance having to wait a year or more, in the hopes that some of them will show up on the Clearance Rack. Which they won’t, if they’re retired inks.

How to Survive the Retiring Lists

I repeat – DON’T PANIC about the colour revamp! Yes, Stampin’ Up! has reconfigured the ink pads, but that doesn’t mean you have to replace the ones you already have! Unless you want to, of course – I’m  happy to accept your payment! The ‘new’ ink refills for the continuing colours WILL work just fine in your current ink pads.  And the ‘old’ ink refills will work fine in the reconfigured ink pads (if you have a refill, but not the ink pad yet. what – I do that, if I bought the refill to use for colouring techniques!). You will want to purchase the new In Colors, and the new colours added to the colour collections, which you’ll be able to do as of June 1st.

In case you missed my post all about the new colours, and the ink pad reconfiguration, you can READ IT HERE. Here’s a look at the new In Colors, and the new colours. Grab a napkin, because you might start drooling! *wink*

How to Survive the Retiring Lists

You don’t need a sweater for this – but you do need to be smart! All those lovely Bundles in the Occasions catalogue, with their 10% Discount, WILL BE DISAPPEARING! Let me just be clear – while the separate products – the stamp set and the punch or framelits/thinlits – may not be retiring – THE BUNDLE PRICING IS GOING AWAY! So for example, you’ve been eyeing Petal Palette Bundle, with the Petal Palette stamp set (of 15 stamps) and the Petals & More Thinlits (with 10 dies).  Until the end of May – or while supplies last! – you can get the Wood Mount Bundle for $96.25, or the Clear Mount Bundle for $81.75.  You’ll be saving yourself 10% off the combined price of the stamp set plus the thinlits.  I don’t know about you, but I figure if I can save money on something I want, I use that saved money and apply it to something else I want! I win!! So come on – be smart, and Bundle Up! 🙂

How to Survive the Retiring Lists

One of the biggest things to remember is DON’T WAIT! It bears repeating that the retiring products are only while supplies last! Stamp sets will be guaranteed available until May 25th, but after that – all bets are off! Once products are gone, no matter how much you plead, or how nicely you ask – you’ll be out of luck.

Well, I hope these tips have helped you out! If you have any questions, feel free to shoot me an email, or comment on this post. I promise – I read all your comments, and will reply!

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a card, painting or other project - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you create with me! :)

I love to read what you have to say! Thanks for commenting ;)
