Hello again! I hope that you enjoyed my watercolour sunflower post yesterday. If you missed it, you can see it HERE. Since I still had my paints out, I went ahead and did hummingbirds in watercolour! As I mentioned, the artist who’s tutorial I followed for the sunflowers, also generously has a couple of free colouring pages. This hummingbird is one of them.
You can find Sandy’s free colouring pages HERE. You can print them out, and either colour them onto the paper you print on, or transfer them to another medium. I used graphite paper to trace the images onto my watercolour paper. This is the image, below, from Sandy’s page.
It’s bigger than this on her site – please be sure to go there, for downloading the PDF file. Then, be sure to check out the other free sunflower colouring page, and her tutorials!
This is my finished hummingbirds in watercolour!
I went completely different with my colours than Sandy did, on her sample (on the colouring pages site). I know that they aren’t a ‘true’ representation of hummingbirds, but I like it! I sort of combined all of the gorgeous colours that I see on the hummingbirds outside my window, and put them together. No one said there were rules to be followed!
As with the sunflower I shared yesterday, I used Arches 140 lb. Coldpress watercolour paper, with my Daniel Smith paints. I think I”ll go back & add some darker green to the leaves; otherwise, I think I’m pretty happy with it. It was a fun way to spend a couple of hours, on Sunday afternoon.
As I said, you can find the FREE colouring page from Sandy Sandy Art HERE. I don’t receive any compensation for links to her page – I just want to share a fabulous artist! For the paints, brushes and paper I used, affiliate links are offered, at no cost to you. When you use my affiliate links, you help support me to purchase new products, & maintain this blog. Then I can continue sharing new projects with you!
Remember, you can colour with any medium, as long as it makes you happy! Or, push yourself out of your comfort zone, and try a new medium! I hope I’ve given you some inspiration, today. Tomorrow, I’ll be back with more stamping and cards!
