As you know from my previous posts, I’ve recently received a new order from Altenew. They’re one of my favourite stamp companies; I just love their floral images, and multi-step stamps. Today I’m sharing a super cute small stamp called Inked Bud from Altenew, as well as another new stencil.
INKED BUD
This 2″ x 3″ stamp is part of the August release. The single bud with sentiment is perfect to use on it’s own, or you can do some masking, like I did for my card.
I used the new Beach Towel Stripes stencil on the background panel, creating a tone-on-tone look.
CARD DETAILS
First, stamp the rosebud image in Nocturne ink onto smooth white cardstock. Cover with clear embossing powder, and heat set. Now, stamp the rosebud again onto a Post-it Note or other paper, and hand cut it to create a mask. Lay the mask over the stamped image, and then stamp the 2nd and 3rd rosebud images; one on either side of the first. Now cover the other 2 images with clear embossing powder, and heat set them as well.
Now you are ready to colour! Having heat set the ink means you’re safe to use whatever medium you like. I chose my Spectrum Noir Tri-Blend markers. Colour the entire bud in the lightest of the Bright Pink Blend, then add in shading with the darkest pink. Add in some dark yellow from the Citrus Blend at the top of the petals. Now, go back and blend them all smoothly, with the lightest pink again.
For the leaves & stems, first colour with the lightest of the Light Green Blend, then add shading with the darkest. Next, go back again with the lightest, and smoothly blend them together.
Now, use a blending tool and add some Salty Ocean Distress ink around the edges of the cardstock. Stamp the ‘thanks’ from the Inked Bud stamp set in Nocturne, and heat set in clear embossing powder. Cut a piece of dark pink cardstock slightly bigger than the image piece. Round the corners of both pieces, and layer them together with foam tape or squares.
BACKGROUND PANEL
To create the tone-on-tone stripes, start with a light blue cardstock panel. Place the Beach Towel Stripes stencil from Altenew over the panel, and hold it in place with temporary adhesive. Use a blending tool, and add Salty Ocean Distress ink over the panel. Remove and clean your stencil. Now attach the image panels to the middle, and then attach the whole thing to a dark pink card base. Finish off the card front by adding some rhinestones.
INKED BUD FROM ALTENEW
Of course, you could make this a much simpler card, without the masking or stencil. I’m planning on making some tags, with just the single bud! However you choose to use it, this stamp set is very versatile! If you’re inspired to give it a try, I’ve included some links below for online ordering, should you need the supplies.
