It Was A Happy Birthday!

First, thank you everyone who sent me so many lovely birthday wishes! It was my birthday yesterday, but the celebrations started on the Thursday before – don’t you love it when a celebration gets stretched out?! 🙂 Well, it was a happy birthday for me. First, my brother took me out for lunch to a lovely little restaurant overlooking the river. Funny story – being family, of course there’s no end of topics to talk about. So of course we were intent in conversation the whole time; the waiter, who was very nice & funny, mentioned that it was nice to see us talking, and mentioned eye contact. Well, as we were leaving, he bid us goodbye, and said “you’ve made me believe in romance again”! He thought we were a ‘couple’! I hated to do it, but I said to him ‘I hate to burst your bubble, but this is my brother, taking me for a birthday lunch’. He was so surprised, and I think a bit embarrassed.  I said ‘romance is out there – just not ‘here’! It would have been different if my sister-in-law hadn’t been out of town; she would normally have been there too!

Anyway -they gifted me this super cute hand-painted wine glass!

I knew that you, my card making friend, would appreciate this. Just look at all the bright colours, and the bling!! So sweet 🙂

Then the next day, my Dad & step-mom took me out for lunch! (I promise – I chose my meals wisely, so I don’t add pounds as well as another year!). They also gifted me with a card, and a gift card. I am spoiled!

There’s nothing more special than a hand-written envelope, peeking up in the mailbox! I received some lovely handmade cards from my stamping friends; I thought I’d share a few of them here.

This lovely card is from an online stamping friend, Yvonne, who I haven’t even met in person! It came all the way from Wyoming. I love the purples and the paisley print.

This cutie is from another demo friend, Stefanie. She used to live close by, but has recently moved to Vancouver Island. I love this soft colour combination, with the hint of bling from the rhinestones.

This card is from another online friend, Gloria. Isn’t this gorgeous? I think Gloria must’ve remembered my love for Blackberry Bliss 🙂  It’s so pretty!

If you’re ever wondering if it’s “worth” the time and effort to send one of your handmade cards – my answer is a resounding YES!! It’s wonderful to know that someone took the time to make a card, write a message, and address it to you. Of course I love the store-bought cards as well, because I know the that they were specially chosen for me.

My ‘boys’ are wonderful! I included my husband in that – we have 2 wonderful sons, and they spoiled me with gifts and a lovely dinner out. My bestie, Susan L. came for dinner, too! I received a new Stephen King book, a new cover for my iPad, and some of my favourite Purdy’s chocolates – Mocha Melties! My sister & brother in law also mailed me a card and gift card; they made sure it arrived in time, even though they’re only just returning from their Mediterranean cruise!

It Was A Happy Birthday!

Again, thank you for all the wonderful wishes! The best part of birthdays are connecting with people, and the feeling of joy and happiness. It was a happy birthday!

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a card, painting or other project - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you create with me! :)

  1. Happy birthday!! The cards (and the love) are wonderful. (Your card from me will also be fashionably late…but, hey – it means you can stretch your birthday out a few more weeks!!)

    1. Thank you, Buffy! And I love stretching out celebrations, and cards are always welcome. Thanks for thinking of me 🙂
