Just Breathe

How are you holding up, my friend? Has your life changed drastically, since this pandemic started? Mine actually hasn’t changed that much, aside from no more meeting up with friends for coffee, or dinner or a movie. Or just hanging out to chat. And no family dinners, which is how we celebrate whatever is going on. But honestly, working from home kind of set me up for what’s happening. I think that, if anything, the pressure comes from expectations. Have you heard people tell you “oh, now you’ll have lots of time to….” fill in the blank. Well, that may be true if you’re no longer working; suddenly you have ‘free’ time. But if you’re working from home, have always worked from home, or been an at-home parent – it’s life as usual! So relax, and just breathe. Stop feeling that you have to come out the other side of this speaking a new language, or having written the new greatest novel.

Today’s card is a reminder to myself to just breathe. Not everything I create will be a masterpiece. And that’s okay. So let’s celebrate whatever we do accomplish, however great or small.

Just Breathe

The look of the accidental paint spill was intended – honest! Start with a panel of watercolour paper. Next, dip your brush in clean water, and wet the areas where you want the paint to go. By dripping the water, you create paths for the paint to follow. Next, with a wet brush, pick up your first paint colour, and allow it to drip into the water. Clean off your brush, and then add the second colour. I chose Daniel Smith paints in Phthalo Blue and Quinacridone Rose.  Set it aside, to allow the paints to dry.

Now, set up the panel in your MISTI or other stamp platform. Align the sentiment stamp, from the Stampin’ Up! set Colorful Seasons, along the bottom. Cover the stamp in bright pink ink, and stamp. Repeat the inking & stamping several times, for complete ink coverage.  Next, with your wet brush, splatter some of the blue and rose inks over the panel.  Finally, attach the card front to a dark blue card base.

Just Breathe

So – spill your paints? Smudge your work? Burn the toast? Just breathe! We’ll get through it all. For better, for worse. Cleaner, messier, organized or not. Take time for yourself, and do whatever helps you breathe.

Take care, my friend! I’ll see you tomorrow.

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a card, painting or other project - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you create with me! :)

  1. I love the look of this card and the sentiment is perfect for these days. People need to relax more, be less uptight and just breathe!

    1. Thanks for your comment, Susan! It’s nice to know that someone else ‘gets’ what I’m talking about… 🙂

  2. Oh, wow – I have spilled paint, smudged work, AND burned the toast – all this week. Unlike your fun card, though, my oops-es were NOT intentional! Cute card, and a very timely reminder.

    1. Oh gosh – sorry your week has been less than ‘perfect’, Buffy! I won’t jinx things by saying they can’t get worse – because I know they’ll get better 🙂

I love to read what you have to say! Thanks for commenting ;)
