We all need to have birthday cards on hand, don’t we? There’s nothing worse than being caught without one! I do like to make special cards for special people, but sometimes I don’t pay attention to my calendar, and – well, you know the rest. So I thought I’d put this one together to have on hand. It uses an Impression Obsession stamp Keep Calm Be Crazy and It’s Your Birthday from Studio Katia.
KEEP CALM BE CRAZY
This bright & fun card came together quite quickly – maybe I’m finally getting over my creative ‘funk’. I pulled out an old stencil to start, and it went from there.
I think this sentiment is some good advice for all of us!
CARD DETAILS
Start with a white cardstock panel, and attach the stencil over the front. Hold it in place with Purple Tape, or any other removable adhesive you have. First, apply Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide through the stencil, lightening up the application as you get towards the ends of the rays. Next, apply Spiced Marmalade Distress ink over the Amber, keeping the ink towards the start of the rays. Remove and clean your stencil. (I always ‘clean up as I go’, so I don’t forget to do it afterwards).
Set up a piece of bright yellow cardstock in your stamp platform. Next, stamp the Impression Obsession sentiment in Spiced Marmalade. Ink up & stamp again; the Distress inks usually require 2 stamping to get full coverage. Now, ink up the stamp again, this time in Versamark ink. Stamp again, and then cover with clear embossing powder and heat set.
Place your sun ray panel into the stamp platform, and stamp the sentiment from the Studio Katia It’s Your Birthday set in the bottom right hand corner, in Memento black ink. Now you’re ready to layer it all together onto a bright yellow card base, and a smaller light orange piece for the sentiment. Use foam tape, to give it some more dimension.
Isn’t’ this fun? The rays direct your eyes to the focal sentiment, and then back out to the bottom sentiment. Adding the foam tape for the layers really makes it stand out.

I think the bright colours helped perk me up, Susan! Glad you like it 🙂
I love how the sun’s rays fade at the ends. It really does draw attention to the sentiments. Such a happy card!
Thank you, Buffy! We’ve had some crisp, sunny days here – maybe that was my inspiration 🙂
