Happy Tuesday, stamping friend! Today I’m back with one of my favourite themes – coffee. Coffee is a daily staple for me; the only time I ever purposely did not drink coffee, was both time I was pregnant. Boy, those were some tough times! Seriously though, apart from the comfort factor, your brain does get used to ‘caffeine fixes’. Really bad headaches happen when you don’t get that caffeine, until your body re-adjusts. Thankfully, those days are long past, and now, I just keep calm, and coffee on!
BFF OWL WITH COFFEE
You gotta love a cute owl holding a coffee cup! This is the Picket Fence Studios BFF Owl stamp. I combined it with the Echo Park But First Coffee stamp, and some ink blending.
Isn’t that cute? I love her pearls and bow – this is one sassy owl 🙂
CARD DETAILS
First, cut a panel of white cardstock. Mask off a strip about 1 -1 1/2″ wide, using some Purple Tape, or masking tape. Use a Blender Brush to blend on some Vintage Photo and Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide inks into the masked opening. With the masking still in place, stamp the coffee beans in a darker brown ink. Now remove the masking tape.
Stamp the sentiment, from the But First Coffee stamp set, in Memento Tuxedo Black ink in the upper right side of the panel. Set aside for now, to work on the owl. Stamp the owl, from the BFF Owl stamp, in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto a separate piece of white cardstock. Use your markers or pencils to colour in the owl. I chose my Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers for my colouring.
Once you’re finished colouring, cut out the owl image by hand, and attach it to the front panel, with foam tape or squares. Now, create a card base in a colour that matches the Fossilized Amber ink, and layer a dark brown cardstock layer on top of that, with foam tape. Attach your image panel to the front, again with foam tape.
CHOOSE YOUR RECIPIENT
Now, you have to narrow down your friends who can use the advice to keep calm & coffee on, to send them this card! If your friends are like mine, that will be the hardest part – choosing which one! *wink* This is a fun, cute card, that comes together quickly. That doesn’t mean your friend will appreciate it any less, though!

I don’t drink coffee but I think this is such a cute card. I love the little coffee beans.
Ha ha! I need to find a stamp set that has a tea bag! 🙂 I’m glad you like my card anyway, Susan 🙂
Oh, I love that little owl, and that bow! Too cute. Great card, Deborah! I gave up coffee while I was pregnant with my first. I decided one cup a day would probably be ok the second time. Even with one cup a day, I’m very glad those days are over. Coffee on, my friend!
I’m glad you can relate, Buffy! Giving up coffee was the hardest part of pregnancy 😛 Coffee drinkers – brew on! 🙂
