Lakeside Landscape Painting

I’ve been working on some landscapes recently, and thought I’d share this one with you.  I call it ‘Lakeside’, a landscape painting done in alcohol inks on Yupo.  I know that I used a reference photo from a Facebook group I belong to, but I can’t for the life of me find it again! It’s copyright free, but I do like to give the photographer credit.  I’ll keep looking & share their name, when I find it!

This was enjoyable to paint, and I used some techniques as well.

Lakeside Landscape Painting

First, I sketched the trees and the line I wanted for the ground area. Then I applied masking fluid over the trees.  Once the masking fluid was thoroughly dry, I painted the water. I chose to apply the ink and blending fluid to an alcohol ink applicator, and drag it sideways across the Yupo. This helps to create the lines of water movement, and blended the different shades of blue ink used.

The trees are painted in next, using a small brush.  A few leaves are painted on the branches, giving the look of late fall.  I used several different colours & techniques for the ground area, including an alcohol ink applicator. For the fallen leaves on the ground, I picked up ink with a scrunched up piece of plastic wrap, and pounced on the ink.  This gives you the feeling of the pile of leaves, along with the colours.

This piece measure 8 1/2″ x 11 1/2″; the photo above shows it in a mat with an 8″ x 10″ opening.

Above, you can see it without the mat.

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a card, painting or other project - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you create with me! :)
