Welcome back to my creative nook! I have been busy, and I hope that you’ve had a creative time lately, as well. While I’ve been working on my ‘popsicle series’, I’ve also been doing other projects. If you missed the first in my Popsicle series, you can read & see it in THIS post. I’ve been doing some things for Valentine’s Day, but I also had the best time creating this new friend.
SAY HELLO TO FERGUS
I hope that you’ll give a big welcome to Fergus, the Highland Cow (or Coo, as the Scottish say)! These beautiful, shaggy creatures are a favourite of mine, and of my cousin Morag, who actually does live in Scotland. Highland cows are unique in their colouring, and famous for their shaggy hair! As fabulous a hair-do it is, it’s actually to keep them warm in the cold weather in the Highlands.
I wanted to stay with the gorgeous red hair, with bits of blonde mixed in, so that’s how I tinted my resin. I also added small highlights of reddish-brown glitter, because after all – Fergus is a very special coo!
STATEMENT PIECE
Fergus is attached to a piece of plexiglass, set into a 12″ x 16″ frame. Behind him, you can see the Saltire, which is the Scottish flag. I had this especially made to fit, printed on high quality vinyl. If you prefer, you can swap out the background for something different – it isn’t permanently attached. Fergus himself measures about 12″ x 12″.
It’s very difficult to get a good photo without a reflection. I would take it outside, but we had snow today, and it’s freezing out there!
SIDE VIEW
This photo below gives you an idea how Fergus is attached to the front of the plexiglass; like he’s coming out of the frame. There is no glass in front of him.
I should have Fergus, the Highland Coo listed in my Shop for purchase, by the end of this week. Hopefully along with other items I’m working on!
Thanks for visiting, and making Fergus feel at home. If you’d like to have him in your home, drop me a message at thistledesigns@shaw.ca, before I list him.
Oh, my gosh – he’s so cute, and you did a great job with the colors. <3
Fergus thanks you for the compliments, Buffy! 🙂
