Hello again, stamping friends!

Wow – where has this week gone; it’s already ‘hump day’!  Not to mention, where  has the month gone!  It’s just been flying by so quickly (please, don’t tell me it’s my age!)

I promised to share with you the cards that we made at my Christmas in July stamp-a-stack, so here I am to share the first 3 with you.  Everyone made 12 cards; 2 each of 6 designs.

Since the new Occasions catalogue hasn’t come out yet, we used a lot of retired stamp sets, which I’m sure a lot of you still have as well, so I hope these cards will inspire you to pull out your existing sets, while we wait for the new catalogue, which is full of AMAZING new stamp sets & products!

The first card actually uses a current set, as well as a retired one:

candlelight christmas

This card uses the current Build a Birthday set (for the candles) and the retired Ornamental Pine stamp set (pine needles & baubles).  The card base is Old Olive cardstock.  On the Whisper White panel, the pine branches are stamped in Old Olive ink, along with the sentiment.  The candles are stamped on scrap Whisper White in Lost Lagoon and Smoky Slate ink, and cut out by hand.  The baubles (ornaments) are stamped in the retired Gold Metallic ink, and punched out using the 1 1/2″ Circle Punch; we then hand cut the topper and glued it back onto the baubles.  The candles and baubles were layered onto the stamped panel using Stampin’ Dimensionals, and the candle flames stamped using Hello Honey ink.

After stamping and layering, we wrapped a piece of retired thick Baker’s Twine in Mossy Meadow around the left side of the panel, then attached it to the card base, again using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Our next card uses a holiday set that has been carried over into the new Annual Catalogue; Festival of Trees.

festival of trees

The trees and their pots were stamped onto Whisper White cardstock, using inks in Real Red, Old Olive and Mossy Meadow.  The trees were punched out using the matching Tree Punch  (it also matches the new set in the Annual Catalogue called ‘Lots of Joy’ – pg. 69).  The little pots were quickly hand cut using the Paper Snips.  A panel of Real Red cardstock was layered with a 2″ strip of Merry Moments DSP (current in the catalogue), and wound with Cherry Cobbler Baker’s Twine, and tied off in a knot.  The trio of trees were then attached using Dimensionals, and a Gold Foil star attached to the centre tree.  The star was created by using the star border die that comes in the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits Die set!

Our 3rd card uses a set that was a huge favourite from last year’s Occasion catalogue, called Gentle Peace:

gentle peace

This is a gorgeous image, which can be stamped onto Vellum paper and coloured as a stained glass window.  Since we were doing 12 cards, I knew that there wouldn’t be time for that much colouring, so I  opted for stamping the image in Versamark ink onto Brushed Gold cardstock, and heat embossing it with Gold Embossing Powder, and doing the same for the sentiment.

I did really like the ‘window shape’ of the image, though, so we hand cut it with the Paper Snips.  The banner tails on each end of the sentiment were made using the Triple Banner Punch.  Before attaching the image & sentiment, we embossed the Blackberry Bliss cardstock base using the Lucky Stars embossing folder; then attached a strand of 1/8″ Gold Ribbon along the side.  To add more dimension to the card, we also stamped the individual circled star image again onto the Brushed Gold cardstock & heat embossed it, punched it out using the 1″ Circle Punch, and layered it on top of the larger image.

I hope you enjoyed seeing these 3 cards, and now feel inspired to  pull out your sets & start creating!  (it’s never too early to start your Christmas cards!).  I’ll be back tomorrow to share the final 3 cards that we made at the Christmas in July stamp-a-stack.

If you’d like to be like me, and get to pre-order product from the upcoming Occasions catalogue, you can do that by joining my Team as a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator!  That’s right – if you join during the pre-order period of August 4th – 31st, you can choose from the new catalogue for your Starter Kit!   If  you have any questions, just email me at debsmart@shaw.ca, or call me at 604.298.0472 and I’d be happy to talk to you about this great opportunity!

Until tomorrow – happy stamping!

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a card, painting or other project - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you create with me! :)

I love to read what you have to say! Thanks for commenting ;)
